Thread: What is your thumb pitch?

  1. #1

Default What is your thumb pitch?

For those that know their drill specs, what is your thumb pitch? Is it more forward or reverse?

I don't know my specs but I believe I have some forward thumb pitch (towards the palm). This may be one of the reasons I sometimes have issues with the thumb sticking even with a loose hole.

I know every one is different but generally is there one pitch direction that most people start with and go from there?

Also I use a thumb slug. What is the minimum thumb slug pitch angle can be made on thumb slugs before a new thumb hole has to be drilled?

Your PSO can determine all that when it comes to re-slugging to find the right pitches for your release. If the cost isn't much, I'd test different pitches to see what works - clean release is always a nice thing lol. My old PSO charged me $2.oo to re-slug, he started way forward and I threw some balls, and then backed up as we continued testing. It took 3 or 4 trips to the mill when I found something a liked. The lateral pitch we added lateral.

If your thumb is getting stuck with a "loose" hole, maybe a slight bevel will help. My thumb hole fit is tight. tight enough where I have very little grip pressure, yet still have good timing. (when thumb exits the thumb hole.)

I have forward and left lateral (righty), both 1/8.
