FWIW, my usual house is currently offering a special--detox and new finger grips for $20. It's normally around $30.....so $25 for a detox/resurface is a good deal.
Just found a place that will resurface and detox the ball all for $25. To me that's a tremendous value. Or is this the going rate
First they will sand the ball down to 500 or so to open up the pores. Then use their Detox machine to take oil out and then resurface back to OOB or whatever I like (I don't think they do a full resurface, maybe just one grit and polish). But for $25 that's a steal.
I was actually surprised they included the pre-sanding and post-resurface to the detox.

By not sanding down the ball to 500 or lower before a detox is a bit of a waste. Taking off the top layer makes sense as why would you detox a ball surface that you are going to take off anyway. One thing I found out the hard way is to do a full resurface instead of just the last step or 2.
I resurfaced my Tag with 4000 and polish and it killed it. I then did a full resurface of 500,1000,2000,4000, Polish to get it back to life.

Just went there at lunch. Took in my Haywire and they sanded it down to 500, detoxed it, and resurfaced from 1000, 1500, 2000, then 4000 and polished (I wanted it at 4K with polish). All for $25. Not bad at all.
Sounds like a deal to me.

Only place around me charges $15 for a detox but I have no idea if they hit the surface beforehand or not.
I have my ball spinner and ball oven at home and when
I do a ball for someone I only charge them $10.00 for a
complete de-oiling and a OOB refinish and I take the ball
down to 320 grit to really open it up to get the oil out of it.
Our center charges anywhere from $35 to $40 to do it so
yeah $25 isn't all that bad of a price.
