Default Hi all, old guy trying to give it another shot

I posted this is community but don't see it....

.I shot 190 or so 30-40 years ago before all this new equipment and lanes.. i am trying to make a comeback at 61 years old after back surgery. My approach sucks but I still have the roll. Issue is my ball isn't hooking ot hitting hard. Dam I am leaving the 5 pin....lol used to blow them suckers out. I have an older ebonite nvs. just today I did the hot water bath and will try again tomorrow. I am shooting 150-170 scores but with no real hook or carry. All fyi and any help will be appreciated. I bowl at Oakfield in Brandon Fl and Tom Daugherty owns the pro shop

    thanks and Hi...Lou

Welcome back to the game! That being said, go get a new rock or at least get the old one resurfaced. Then try again

Always nice to come back, i know the feeling. Definitely get a new ball, most of them hook for you nowadays, as long as you put some fingers in it lol.

Welcome back aznd welcome to the boards. At the very least I would recomend having your fit rechecked as our hands change as we age. A new piece would also be a huge improvement over what you are throwing now
Still love the game but had to quit because of my left leg amptation

well my finger holes were too small so I got my dremel out and made them a bit bigger, feels much better now , also did the hot water soap bath. haven't tried it yet. I figured I'd play around with this rock for a bit before getting a new one drilled and bought. being honest I really can't do a new ball right now I've been looking for used bit have no clue of surface or type to buy. There's so many different surfaces out there. i also want to go to a 15 lb ball from 16, maybe I can get some more revs.

    thanks for the advice all
    Lou

See a PSO get your grip checked and probably buy a new ball. You may want to look into getting some lessons a lot has changed over the last 30 years. I just came back myself about 2 years ago from a 25 year break myself. No matter what remember to have fun.
