    Default Practiced today. Bleah....

Well, I finally got to practice after two weeks of a head cold/ sinus mess. Bowled 7 games. Averaged 175 in a house where I usually average 225. Tried to change up my approach from a five-step to a four-step and from a push-away to a hinge motion at takeoff. Mixed results. Timing was better as approach was compressed but I'm not hitting the back of the ball at all.
I videoed a few shots of my last game. I struck on all three shots, which is funny. What bugs me is in my mind, I feel like I'm behind the ball with my wrist slightly cocked, then I uncock at release. What the video shows is I'm rotating around the side of the ball and hitting the right side. I'm completely lost between what I'm trying to do, what I feel, and what I'm actually doing.

I spent a few hours on YouTube going over bowling release videos. Dean Champ has several, plus Norm Duke's are available, albeit not posted by him. Anyway, I found a video of a guy asking for help because he has the same issue as I do. His shot was almost identical to mine.
Upon watching many videos looking for someone to have a similar style to mine, I found one. It was footage from a tournament in Australia that Belmo was in. Another guy had a very similar setup and delivery to mine, except for one thing. On his downswing he dropped his middle fingers to the inside of the ball, while his index finger was pointed straight downward. Then he rotated his hand slightly and his fingers went straight up the back of the ball and the shot was wonderful to watch.
I'll work on that this week. I figure with my video camera, hardwood hallway, bowling ball, and some sofa cushions ( all while the wife is still at work) I can work on getting my hand back where it belongs.

After weeks of doing a similar drill at home with pillows.... There's no place like the lanes being on one knee and feeling the release.

breaking furniture is pretty hard to hide from the wifey lol

That's true, but if I don't break out of this slump soon, the season will be over.

Not sure if you have... But take a week or two off.

I was in a one month slump or so.. Real bad, I dropped dozen pins bowling in the 490-550 range for 5 weeks...

I'm sure I was accused of bagging.. Anyway I took two weeks off no bowling at all. No touching a bowling ball!! Lol. Since then I haven't bowled below my average...

I don't know that I've ever taken two weeks off but I have made myself quit thinking about it for a couple of weeks

Less posting on here. Refusing to work on anything during practice or to try things to fix it during league. Just pick my line and throw the ball quit thinking about it. It has worked for me in the past. Sometimes are minds understand the problem but we just can't get out of our own way.
