Default Old habits are hard to break.....

Well, it was league night. After my practice session Sunday, averaging over 250 and really focusing on my follow through, all I did tonight was fight myself. Just couldn't hit the ball consistently at all. Shot 201 the first game, missed one ten pin and had a split. Second game was a disaster. I couldn't keep a consistent follow thru and ended up with 133 with 5 splits. Kept balling down, moving left but the lanes were fried by the middle of game two.
So the last game, like I have for three weeks now, I used my spare ball. My old Marauder Mutiny at 4000 grit with polish. Buried the front 9 shots, six strikes and three ringing 10 pins. End up shooting 233. Yup, 100 pins higher than game two. I really focused on following thru, plus I kept edging inside. I ended up moving left 17 boards from my opening line.
The pattern hasn't changed, but the volume surely has. I went two months throwing my DV8 Ruckus Feud in game one. Averages 230+ in game one for two months. Now I can't even throw that ball at all. Hooks too much. Started with my Brunswick Gold Rhino Vintage in game one. By game two, I couldn't keep it from turning left like it was being kicked.
I drilled up another Marauder but my fingers swelled up so much tonight I couldn't fit them into the inserts. I'm going to open them up a bit tomorrow to help them. The ball rolled nice with about 3" of flair, but I couldn't get my fingers out cleanly. Oh well.

Trust me buddy, I know! We are both doing the same thing unfortunately 'fighting' ourselves. It's like I know what I want to do and I can visualize it happening and I always feel like I know what to do afterwards. And then when I'm actually there bowling, often times I'm just in awe about how I can't connect all the dots and make it work consistently.

I am trying to become a mark shooter instead of a pin shooter for the first time in my life and it's tough to kill off that old habit and make myself understand that the new technique is most beneficial to me. But I'll be damned if I don't get up to the approach and still want to stare down the pins. I guess the breaks old habits, and all we can do is focus and make the effort. We will get there

Keep at it, sounds like you adjusted out well at the end for game 3... that's half the battle. Really easy to throw in the towel and assume it's not your week after a lousy couple games but getting back for game 3 is big both for the team and making sure to end on a higher note.

I'm doing all I can! Throwing the 233 was nice but I have to adjust what ball I start with. After months of using the aggressive equipment I just can't get myself to start with the weaker stuff and keep balling down. Once I get my new Marauder tweaked in to fit my hand better I'll start with it and maybe not have to change balls at all. Spare shooting was better, missed a 10 pin and rugged a shot at the 4-7

*tugged a shot at the 4-7. Five splits in game two killed that game. I'm due for a big series.
