    Default Embarrassed at States

Well, states was a thoroughly embarrassing experience.

PA had its tournament in the suburbs of Pittsburgh at two centers very far apart from each other.

In the team event, I shot 521. Little did I know, that would be my highest of the weekend.

Singles on Sunday morning was even worse. After shooting in the 140s the first game, frankly, I totally gave up because I knew I had no chance. In doubles, I shot in the 480s....and was second highest on my pair of lanes.

Multiple balls in the ditch across the events, and overall just wasn't into it.

This week is rolloffs in my leagues, and after it, I'm not going to set foot in an alley until September. I need some time off. Anyone else ever just hit a wall and want leagues to end?

I hit the wall.... usually around mid September.

Back in 1990 I decided to take a summer off, which extended for 20+ years.

The state of the game is so sad, I think when August gets here (I'm committed thru August) I'm taking another 20+ years.

jab5325, Just gotta shake it off and not let it get to you. Come out strong on your next session and move on.

I have been on the high end of the tournament in one day to the lowest I can ever remember having shot.
Went 268-300-204 = 772 Day 1, then went 699 and finally 462 in the last set day two. Yes, you read it right, not a typo.

Remember bowling is supposed to be fun and it happens to the best. Imagine shooting 100 on national TV like Tom Daugherty did in the Tournament of Champions a few years ago.

Team event was at Wildlife Lanes in Lower Burrell, PA--very, very nice place. The shot was tough, but fun.

Singles/doubles was at North Versailles Bowling Center--not as nice. But, it's no excuse at all for bowling so terribly. It's definitely something I need to shake off and just drop--we're in roll offs in both of my leagues, and I need to get back to my normal self. I have no idea why I struggled so mightily, so it's best to forget about it and move on.

Mike, I can relate to you. I don't intend to take a 20 year hiatus, but after bowling multiple times per week since October 2014, I need something else to do. Physically, I'm going to be able to play golf for the first time in years.....so I'm looking forward to that.

I took 20 years off too. It's amazing how taking one year off can snowball into 20, but life gets in the way. I missed my prime doing that. Kinda sucks but the kids are grown and I can have some fun.
