Freestyle - A GREAT Light Oil Ball!

Historically I have had a lot of success with the Recon core, so I was excited to hear that MOTIV was using the Recon core again! The Freestyle is the new light oil ball from MOTIV that is available in two colors. It has a lower price point than most reactive resin balls, but don’t let that fool you into thinking that this isn’t a quality addition to your bag. This ball is great for those with lower ball speeds that have a problem with more aggressive equipment, or for high rev-rate bowlers that bowl in houses that don’t put out a lot of oil. I am a right handed “No Thumb” bowler with a 400 rev-rate and a ball speed of approximately 17mph. On a house shot the Freestyle allows me to 3 to 5 boards further right than my Octane Burn, for example. with a very controllable back end move.

Here is the ball reaction video that I did for the Freestyle. In the video I compare the ball reaction to MOTIV’s Rebel Tank, Venom Cobra, Paranoia & Revolt Havoc on Kegel’s Bourbon Street Pattern.



The Freestlye cover-stock has a milder reaction than any other reactive ball that I currently have.. which is just the ticket on short sport shot patterns. This really helps blend out the back part of the lane for me. The Freestyle is the perfect ball that bridges the gap between my Rebel Tank Urethane ball, and the rest of my arsenal – I highly recommend it!

interesting, do you think this is a good overall ball for a 12 mph speed on usuall leage house conditions. i am making a comeback after like 25 years and in the market and confused, I have threads out there with more info on my game.
