I remember the ABC sanctioned league

Now I'm reading USBC? How do you get a card and an average? s it the same as the old day's you join a league and establish an average? I'm almost ready to join a league and curious.

We called it dumping in the old day's. you join a handicapped league and shoot 150 average for 9 games and then come alive. Then again back then you got diamond rings for a 300 and a award for almost anything. Believe me the game was alot harder back then. rubber or plastic balls on wood lanes it took 2 years of a 190 average to be able to go pro I think. It was 40 years ago so I may be wrong on some but I did average 190 back then

the awards you receive they have done away with most of them and made the 300
game and 800 series award rings a once in a lifetime award.

The other major change is you have to carry at least a 200 average nowadays to
even consider trying for a PBA card. I carried over a 200 average back then on the
old wooden lanes but not so much now days that I've gotten older and more knee
and back pains.

First off, it is called certification now not sanctioning. You can go on line and get "certified" without joining a league. To get an average you will need to join a certified league. Not all leagues are. You would have to bowl at least 21 games to qualify for a book average. They would all have to be in the same league. 12 in one league and 12 in another don't count.
