The Freestyle is the latest offering from MOTIV bowling designed for high friction lane conditions. While utilizing the same Recon core found in the Ascent line of bowling balls, what sets the Freestyle apart from the Ascent is the Turmoil Low Friction Prearl (LFP) cover stock. The LFP cover creates less friction of the ball to the lane surface thus retaining more energy which creates a better continuation through the pins. What that translates to is a ball designed for dry lanes conserves energy and has the same carry power as the higher end equipment.
My Freestyle is drilled pin above ring finger with cg kicked about 2 inches with a hole on my axis. The Ascents were good, the Freestyle is much better. I have thrown the Freestyle on cheetah pattern with success and it is also very good on wet/dry league shots. Being over the age of 50, I very seldom have the need to throw low end bowling balls because generating enough revs to get them to carry is not my strong suit. The Freestyle provides the recovery I need on drier conditions.
