I just spent the last two days going over my arsenal. Cleaned all my balls, resurfaced the ones I used in my sport league back to OOB specs. I replaced all the grip tape and fitting black tape in all the thumbholes. Ready for winter league!
Good stuff. Looks like your hand has changed quite a bit.
Got a few more weeks to go before league and I finally caved and got some of my equipment set up with Vise IT. My PSO made a small alteration to my span at the same time. I only have one size to start with, and was a little disappointed the first night - mostly because he didn't oval it. After losing some skin on the left side of my thumb I had it altered today and it feels much better. My spare ball has been cracking around fingers and thumb (its been plugged an redrilled) so I opted to pick up a new one too. At the suggestion of the PSO I opted to get the IT on it as well. Still waiting to get it back though - he drilled it and didn't realize he had run out of sleeves. I plan on getting some duplicates of the IT slugs so I can use matching sets in the strike and spare ball and not have to mess around with switching slugs between balls (and I will be using the spare ball a lot lol).

I can still get in my old grip, but I can really see the difference now comparing it to the new one.
With the old grip I can really feel the edge of the thumbhole pressing into my thumb. That and just how much I'm knuckling in the hole.
In the new grip my thumb feels more "in" the ball and lays flatter. The grip is more relaxed.

Alex, the advantage of using one slug for both balls is you have to wait to shoot the spare. You can't rush it. I use to just put feet on marks, roll ball to mark. I mean damn, I know my marks so what takes everyone so long to miss that spare? Now I've been forced to slow down, have time to focus and my spare shooting has skyrocketed this summer from this.

I'm getting two new balls this calendar year. I don't really need them but that's besides the point. The Roto-Grip No Rules has me serious considering lifting my ban on 900RotoStorm. May also get the Columbial Serve GT. Maybe try the Brunswick Fanatic BTU. Maybe get a strong, early reading ball and try the RICO layout on it. I have it on a Cyclone and love it. Maybe get an all Cyclone arsenal with just different layouts and surfaces. So many options and so little money to spend on toys.
