Default First ever ball to crack on me

My newest ball, Roto Grip Hy-Wire, developed a crack that I noticed when I got back from Reno the beginning of July.

Finally was able to get into the shop to pick it up, and not having touched my bowling balls essentially since Reno, I was surprised to see it like this when I took it out of my bag. Crack went about 2/3 around the ball

Still haven't picked up my "new" ball as I don't think the thumb hole was drilled correctly, The IT sleeve that gets glued into the ball was too tight when putting my thumb in to check it, the kid worked the thumb out, but I think he worked it out too much as the hole had ovaled a bit. Could glue 1/2 of the sleeve on bottom but the top was not meeting up with the ball any more. Left a gap and I told him not accepting it that way. Think they will just have to plug it and re drill the hole again.

Sounds like you need a new PSO.

Don't disagree there. Kinda stuck with them for now as I need to get this ball replaced. Then, moving on. The guy who had been drilling my balls has moved on, he's Regional Manager for EBI products now.

Always too bad to see a ball crack, I notice though that it looks like it might have hit the end of bolt or something.

You see that curved mark a lot of the time when they hit the end of a something round. and near the hole would be a bad spot for it to hit.

Man that sucks! I hate it when my balls crack. Living in the Texas heat, I'm surprised that you've only had one ball split on you. Between my son and me, we've had probably 7 or 8 cracked balls in the last 4 or 5 years. In fact, I just noticed last night that my Crux has a crack in the bridge between the finger holes. Grrr...
