Thread: How high would your average rise if only you bowled on your pair of lanes?

Default How high would your average rise if only you bowled on your pair of lanes?

Hypothetical, in league everyone had a pair all to themselves all season. You didn't have to worry about others burning up your lane or ruining your line. How much higher would your average be? Of course pacing would be different as well.

My average would be no less than 15 pins higher. Anytime I practice alone on a fresh pair I shoot my highest scores.

10-15 higher, based solely on my average this summer on fresh (game 1) vs transitioned (game 3). Although what that tells me is that I just suck at adjusting in time.

Actually mine would probably go down. If I'm bowling by myself I tend to suck at pacing myself so I don't do as well.

I'm guessing I would be 15-20 pins higher, but I don't think I would have as much fun.

Depending on conditions having the lanes only to yourself wouldn't necessarily benefit you, at least not all the time. Some times having other breaking the shot down can benefit you.

Using lefties as a example, there are many times when they complain that being the only one on the left side (in essence the only one on the lanes) hurts them. Because they have to break the shot down all by themselves to open up the lanes to achieve optimum scoring potential.

So your average might not necessarily go up, it could conceivably go down. At least until you got use to it.

I would think it would increase about 10 pins a game!

It would not really matter as the lanes are oiled 20 minutes before the league

Based on my summer average numbers it seems like it would hurt me.

    Averages by game:
    1: 217.4
    2: 223.2
    3: 221.222
    4: 233.333
