Default What is ineffective roll and did I correct it?

Hi, I just got into hooking a ball 3 months ago. Most games I would try to hook my ball by rotating my hand to the side of the ball and lifting. But it created a roll with my finger holes on the inside (left of center) of the ball. So today I tried increasing my axis tilt (from 2 degrees to about 17 degrees) and my ball suddenly hooked alot stronger. The finger holes were now rotating center of the ball. Today I bowler a 167 which is really good for me. Please note that my axis rotation has always been the same at about 60 degrees. Was a getting ineffective roll before with the finger holes on the inside? Did my increasing of the axis tilt make effective roll/ hook? Please try your best to answer this with a good explanation. Thanks!!

The best way for anyone here to see if your roll is good is to get a video of yourself. We wouldn't want to give you bad advise

Also a good way to practice a good rotation is to isolate The release at the foul line. It will help you feel when the ball comes out and when to turn the wrist

So you're right handed and the finger holes were rotating left of center. I need a video to see how this happened. Even with the '80s release you described the fingers should be right of center given the fact you put right handed in your profile.

Wait! Are you throwing a back up ball? Does your ball hook from right to left or left to right?

My ball hooks from right to left. Another way to visualize this is my finger holes were rotating away from the right gutter (Cause Im right handed). So this would be on the left side of the bowling ball. They would be rotating around a small track that is left of the largest possible track (the centre track of my full roller style at the time).

First one was a reasonably decent explaination for Strokers. A few times he said tilt when he meant rotation but making those in one take doesn't always go as planned.
Crankers will and do break their wrist but only at the point of release. This is how they create those real high rev rates.
