    Default too many associations

just curious if any others have this issue

The Salt Lake Metro area has one assocation for 20+ houses.
I bowl Monday nights with my 3 daughters at one of them.

I live in a town just outside of the Salt Lake Metro area.
In my home town and neighboring town there are 2 houses owned by the same family and they have an association just for those two houses.
I bowl a scratch league at one on Wednesday nights.

not too far south is another association that has a few houses scattered about several small towns
I just started bowling at one on Thursday night with my 3 daughters

So my USBC memberships totaled $37.00 and my daughters's were $29.00 each

I don't understand why they all can't be under one association or at least just two. Not sure if it's its politics, ego, or what. I'm going to start asking around.
And to think in the next few years the membership prices will continue to rise

In West Central Ohio it's by county. Of course my home center is the only one in the county so to bowl elsewhere I have to pay $8 out of county dues. Now in Dayton that covers close to a dozen or more centers.

Te USBC has required all of the different associations to merge, and as of right now Nevada is the only state that has done this. I know that a time frame has been set, but I don't know exactly when it will be required.

I know they required the men's and women's to merge but if all different associations merged then it would be one national association, which we already have.

The date for merging the NON-Merged Associations is August 1, 2018.

    Note:
Non-merged associations are the ones that only service Men or only service Women or only service Youth.

In other words if you have separate assoc's for men, women and youths they are the ones that are merging, not all the local assoc. in the state.

So you won't necessarily lose your local assoc. it will just become a combined local men's, women's and Youth assoc.

Merge FAQ 7. Do all associations in a state have to merge together?
No, all associations that are currently non-merged are required to offer services to men, women and youth in their jurisdiction
to continue to be recognized by USBC

I serve on the Youth board for our state youth association and we have major issues with the merger. Currently we have much better finances than the Men's association and we have serious questions about what will happen if we merge with the other two associations. We have discussed going as far as ending the relationship with the USBC over this issue.

Here are a couple of things to remember if you're not a member of the USBC.

For youth bowlers (not including scholastic or collegiate competition), you cannot participate in a USBC Youth event unless you pay the $4 national fee.

There is also a $5 participation fee for youths to participate in an adult tournament which subjects them to USBC rules, but are not eligible for any USBC awards.

For individual adults that decide not to be USBC sanctioned, there are 4 issues. 1) If you're interested bowling in 1 league, you won't be allowed to participate (if the league is sanctioned). 2) If a person wants to participate in a tournament and they do not pay USBC dues, they cannot participate. However, you can join at the tournament site but you have to pay local, state & national dues. 3) By not being sanctioned you'll have to bowl whatever the scratch requirement is, usually 220 or 225. 4) Leagues who decide not to be sanctioned do not get bonded by the USBC, which means, that, if you are transporting money to the bank, you get robbed, or have somebody who ends up being a thief, you are responsible for the entire amount that is missing.

I understand some of the sentiments by those who do not want to be part of the USBC, but the cons out weigh the benefits in the overall scheme of things.
