I think Synthetic leave too many splits

I think I've bowled at sprout a total of 2-3 different times. Don't even remember much about the place

Is there a way to tell besides asking at the front desk what kind of pins you are playing?

The only brand of Synthetics I've heard of is Twister. My center has them. I don't notice much difference in reaction, but the sound is completely different. They have a fairly distinctive logo on their pins.

Twister pins tend to carry better on light hits.
I watched a tournament at a center yesterday and the only carry was on high flush hits. I don't think I've ever seen so many ringing 10s before. She moved a half board and left flat 10s then. Combine that with the 37' Montreal pattern they were on and the ball speed had to be up there to boot. Nothing like watching a 5'2" 118lbs young lady hook a 15lbs ball that registered 17.9-18.6 at the camera (45' roughly).
