Strike Fear Into the Pins!
Layout:
75 x 4 ½ x 40
With the continued success of the Primal line it’s no wonder why Motiv’s latest release follows this path: the Primal Fear. By wrapping the proven dual-density Impulse V2 core (2.55RG, .050Diff) within the brand new Voracity Pearl Reactive shell a reaction that is true to the ‘flippy’ nature of the line has been born. I laid mine out with my more benchmark-type angles so that I could play as many lines as possible and this ball has yet to disappoint. My first night with it out-of-box I went wire-to-wire never feeling as though I was in danger of losing the ball motion or pin action; I started crossing at 11 and finished crossing at 20. Even though the shell is on the stronger side it still reacts as a true pearl with its ability to easily clear the heads to retain energy for the backend. Once friction is found I see a strong, but not unpredictable, motion made with impressive continuation through to the pit. I have yet to see this ball snap in an uncontrolled manner nor have I felt as though I was in a phone booth with where I could play on the lane. While I can play on a fresh house condition with it I also see it as a great compliment to my Trident. When the latter starts to hook too soon, starting to bleed energy getting back to the pocket, I can immediately pick up the Fear and continue on that line and beyond. For how strong it is I am impressed by its quick clean-then-hook motion. Overall I would say this ball is true to form for the medium-heavy lane conditions with the ability to play further into lighter volumes than other equipment with similar overall hook. If you need bite through heavier condition without sacrificing a strong backend motion, make the pins scared seeing that Primal Fear come out!
