Default Happy - finally succeeded in playing deep

For almost all season, I find that the lanes break down quickly and i need to move left, but when i get past the 30th board I just struggle. this almost always happens about the middle of the 2nd game. I have even resorted to playing polyester up the 3 board for a weak 176 just to have some sort of shot that doesn't leave splits or multi-pin spares. Then last night, in the middle of the second game the lanes started drying up again. i tried balling down, and even rolling faster but that wasn't giving me a good look. Tons of flat 10's or 7 pins. So I went back to the earlier and bigger hooking ball. I decided to just focus on walking straight and rolling to the target. (Trust the ball). Boom! Strikes! I pulled a couple since i wasn't all that comfortable sliding at 34 to 36 but rolled a nice 224. I am so happy to have finally gotten success playing deep. Even more so to have a good solution for how the lanes are transitioning this fall.

Congratulations! The key is, as you said, walking straight. The single factor that keeps many house bowlers from being able to move in is the tendency to walk right back to where they are used to sliding.

Great that you figured out your houses shot. I have had better success balling up with the transition rather than balling down. I start the night with a weaker ball and go to the stronger ball to start game 2 or in the middle of game 2.

Deep is a great line if you can do it. I did that 30 years ago...lol

I find that when the lanes dry out, I usually move to 30 to 32 and walk straight and throw over the third arrow and making sure to keep my hand is underneath the ball on release. I've bowled some of my best series throwing that shot.
