Default New Brunswick Fanatic BTU: Unexpected results

So I picked up a Brunswick Fanatic BTU because I needed an option for when the lanes got really burned up- which happens, but not often.

The surface was left at OOB (500/1500). The pin is right of the ring finger with CG just left of grip.

When I got the ball drilled, I was talking with the PSO about it, because I've always thrown reactive resin and wasn't sure what exactly to expect. Basically he told me this would be a straight up the lane and in ball, which is what I assumed.

I had a chance to throw a few extra warm up balls last night in league and made the decision to start the night with the BTU, something I didn't think I'd do on this THS.

I played inside all night and barely made any adjustments across all three games. Not moving or not moving much was expected with this ball, but playing inside was a huge surprise.

I threw the ball well but didn't score great, just okay. The important thing I look at is 22/35 strikes (62%), which is a few percentage points above average. I had 4 big splits in the first two games which was on me, not the ball, and the last game I lost carry on the left lane.

The reason for my post is I'm not sure what to do. I probably could have thrown a combination of my Ridiculous balls all night and shot/scored just as well. I don't need another ball that does more of the same. The purpose of the BTU was to have a ball for burned up lanes, but this ball is just as aggressive as my other two balls. I'm not sure how the BTU will react on actual burned up lanes (only two of us played inside last night).

Since I didn't really move all night, is this the same line I can play on dry lanes? Should I make a surface adjustment? Should the ball have been laid out differently? Should I wait and see? Anybody else have experience with this ball?

First of all, try taking the surface up to either 3000 or 4000 abrasion. I use 3000 and it works quite well. Secondly, what is the layout? Where the pin and cg is located is meaningless without knowing their relationship to your PAP. Thirdly, how do you define "inside." Where were you sliding/looking?

This ball (for me) works best on dry lanes, but I can also play it all night along the 5 board. I much prefer using it when the lanes are burned up so that I can play the same line I did with my beginning balls.

I use the OOB surface and have no desire to change that because it does not over react and it has a very slow response.

You can absolutely change the surface (takes it very well) so that you can use it on short & sport patterns.

While I was considering buying a urethane ball, the BTU came out, and I made it a point to get this right after I got my Ultimate Nirvana.

I don't know the exact layout, the PSO knows my PAP but didn't give me the layout numbers.

Off the top of my head I think my PAP is 5-1/2" over and 1/2" up (I have a high track) and after looking at the ball again last night, the pin is right of the ring finger maybe an inch and a half, the center of gravity is just right of center line of grip just up from midway between thumb and fingers. I'll have to take another look at the ball to give you better specifics.

My definition of "inside" would be laying the ball down left of 20. I would consider laying down 10 to 20 to be "track" and right of 10 to be "outside". Not sure if that's correct, but that's how I've always called it.

This particular night I was putting the ball down around 25 and getting it out to the 7-8 down-lane (I don't play the arrows but would be somewhere between 2nd and 3rd maybe even on the 3rd).

    Thanks for the help.
