Default issues: Hand placement for 2-Handers

Being a 2-hander my entire life, I've recently been watching the 2-handers on tour to see if I can get some ideas from their techniques to help my own. One thing I noticed was their off hand placement. Most of them are on top of the ball (Belmonte, Svenson). I tried this, and for me it just seems like I don't get the ball into a skid at all. Yes, it puts a ton of forward roll on the ball, but for me, it seems like it just gets the ball into the roll phaze earlier, meaning I'm having issues getting the ball outside. Last night I struggled with this all night until I decided to move my off hand more toward the side of the ball. This changed my hand position at release and allowed the ball to skid, thus getting the ball to the target. So, my advice for any 2-handers on the site, if you're having some issues, don't be afraid to change your off hand position around to get the ball to do what you need it to do. On heavy oil, you bet i'm going to move my hand position toward the top

If you haven't seen it already, you might checkout this video.

The video is an analysis of the two-handed style of bowling, highlighting key educational elements. Focus is on the set-up position at address, distance of ball placement, the importance of maintaining upper body posture until the beginning of the slide, incorporating a long slide and maintaining a balanced finish position.

I have checked that video out. For me, things I always try to work on are maintaining balance and keeping my elbow in. I've learned that I can tweak my hand position on release simply by adjusting my off hand. But that video is awesome

You're in luck this board has a regular poster who is a 2 handed bowling instructor. The "sniper" hopefully will see your post soon.

If you're nice you may be able to get him to cut you a half price deal on coaching and only charge $10/HR.
