Are you looking for a benchmark ball that reads the lane for you but still have a strong backend that does not quit through the pins? Go now further than the Chronic Paranoia. The younger sibling to the skid/flip Paranoia shares the Oblivion core (2.53RG, .047Diff) but uses a stronger, solid coverstock (Agitator Solid, finished at 4000LSS) to give it more teeth. This combination provides ease of motion through the heads thanks to the med-high RG core while still creating a midlane read that allows you to read the lane and make the proper transitional moves. I left mine at box finish and have found that it is an amazing compliment to the prior release, the Primal Fear. Where the Fear glides through the fronts and mids effortlessly, the Chronic picks up a little more in the midlane. This earlier motion creates a bit more control and makes it easier for me to read the lane effectively. Once I start making zone moves left then I can switch to the Fear and continue moving left with no worries of a flat 10 showing up. I have been equally impressed with this ball’s motion through the pin deck. Typically one might see the ball lay off just a little bit because of the midlane roll but not the Chronic; when it decides to go left it sees the job all the way through. This piece fits nicely in the middle of my arsenal. At the beginning of the block I can take this ball out, throw it on the pattern, and properly identify how I should attack the lanes; this is the definition of a benchmark ball. If you want to cure yourself of the chronic madness that challenging lanes can create, find the Chronic Paranoia.
