I rarely leave a 5 pin, and usually if I do it has to do with a poor release. When I dropped weight, I gained ball speed (which is still only about 14) and accuracy, which made my carry better. Lately, I seem to be in a 7 pin leaving streak, but I think that's just the Brunswick lanes and the changing to their "winter" oil. Rather the 7 than the 10, so I'm trying not to complain.

I have a fairly high rev rate and my ball speed is around 16.5-17.2 at the pins. Only time I ever leave a 5 pin in something on a light hit is when I'm throwing my pitch blue and it loses the angle. I feel I'm more accurate with 14# equipment now than I was before, my ball speed picked up about 1/2mph, and I usually see more messengers.

I may just try a 14#, now to decide which one to buy, I now have a 15# Track Heat and Storm phaze, they both move a lot on the back end and I don't think I have a bad rev rates for a 12mph ball speed. I have to get with my coach Tampabaybob a few more times. In my mind my release and timing are on but who knows unless some one watches. I missed my last 2 league weeks due to being sick, so it;s been 3 weeks since I picked up a ball. I've been searching Amazon for a cheap camcorder, I so have one but it uses AAA batteries that last like 20 minutes...lol I need rechargeable one.

BTW I need to win a ball to get a 14#...lol...Some guy on my league tried to sell me a used one (forgot what it was for 100.00...really? and 50 to redrill it, new would be cheaper.....haha

The Hy Road I was talking about is the original blue / black, Boysenberry scented ball, it's known as a consistent ball that can handle many conditions even after all these years. Glad to see you're having great success with the Haywire, I've seen many guys do well with them, it appears it's a great ball for your game and conditions !

I think my backswing is really low, There are times I realize this. If I can get my backswing higher that may give me speed also. I have no issue throwing a 15# ball I just want more speed. I went from 16 to 15 and really no change in ball speed

Ok. So I talked to the pros in the shop. They are offering me a 14# ball with a bit more power than the current Roto Grip Unhinged. Actually two offers at a good price -
Brunswick Absolute Nervana and DV8 Vandal Smash. I do not know much about either of these and would appreciate input. I am familiar with Storm products and now the Roto Grip Unhinged. I was thinking that if I went down in weight I might want something a little more powerful but just not sure about either of these choices.

Not at all what I would have expected them to offer. The unhinged is a high Rg polished symmetrical ball. Both Abs nirvana and smash are low Rg solid assymetrical balls. The Abs has a ton of surface and is a very early ball. Not enough oil and it will burn up quick. Not to say you couldnt adjust the surface from the oob 1500 sanded, but it is a still a very quick rev and early midlane ball. Cant speak much about the smash, not familiar with it other than the specs.

Well once again after watching that guy who throws a nice rolling ball with a decent hook. He left at least 5 pocket 5-7's and 2 5 pins that I noticed a few 2-4-5's. I still say that the 14 pound ball does not carry a lot of hits that could be strikes or at least better leaves. Maybe it's just him, he averages in the 170's I think which to me isn't bad bit I couldn't live with the leaves I see from him. This is just my opinion and what keeps me from dropping a pound. Like I said I went from 16 to 15 and really didn't pick up any speed but at least I don't leave 5 pins. I do blow out light hits but for some reason leave the 7 with a bunch of pins around it.

I lean towards it is him haha. Carry is more about getting into a roll at the right time and entry angle. Of course speed doesn't hurt either. Have you noticed where his ball leaves the pindeck?
That being said, if you don't have a problem with 15lb I don't know I would just change yet. I'd work on the backswing first. Not sure how low is low to you but that is def something to look at.

Take a look at the Roto Grip Hy-Wire. It's a Hybrid that Ive recommended several times and the people that have bought it, love it.
