    Default Ball polish

Going to redo my brother's bowling ball, a Storm Fight that seems to work best for him polished. Need a recommendation on a good polish to buy.

Pretty much any of the polishes from Ebonite Powerhouse, Brunswick or Storm would work well and are usually the easiest to find.

So just depends on what surface your going for.

Currently I'm using Brunswick Royal Shine & Royal Compound (Brunswick has changed to Crown Factory Compound & Crown Factory Polish now).

Powerhouse factory Finish Polish is a widely use one, along with Storm Step 2 and Extra Shine

    FYI:
The Storm Fight has a OOB 3000 Abralon surface:

Resurfacing to a 3000-grit Factory Finish
Resurface to the original factory finish using a ball spinner.
    1. 500-grit Abralon® - Sand for 30 seconds on all four sides with firm pressure.
    2. 3000-grit Abralon® - Sand for 10 seconds on all four sides with light pressure

Right handed Stroker, high track ,about 13 degree axis tilt. PAP is located 5 9/16” over 1 3/4” up.Speed ave. about 14 mph at the pins. Medium rev’s.High Game 300, High series 798

Hands down Valentino Snake Oil. Made in AZ by a small company.
It goes on easy, lasts a long time, and very little grit so it will not effect the underlying finish as much as most of the grit based polishes.

Here is a ball I just finished with 500/2000/SO

1820- I thought I was the only one who never sleeps haha.

I'll also add I've tried the Black Magic. It did its job but it doesn't seem to hold up as well as others I've tried.

I was warned by my PSO to NOT do the step resurfacing (500, then 3000) with any Storm ball. Not sure why, but I know I did it to my IQ Nano, it wasn't right for a while.

He wants to sell you a new ball! LOL This may not be the worst advice I've ever heard given by a PSO, but it's definitely in the top five.

I thought it was a little odd myself. He does step sand everything else, he just won't do it to a Storm ball. He's very well respected in the area, and he's done wonders for my game in the past 1.5 years, so I have to assume he has his reasons or theories.

Not knowing his reasons for the statement, we can't really comment on whether he's right or wrong.

Now if he meant don't use the Storm recommended steps for getting the OOB surfaces, That's not unheard of. There's many that feel those steps don't reproduce the OOB correctly.

Now when he said don't do the "step resurfacing (500, then 3000)" on any Storm ball, if he meant don't do a "skip a grit" resurfacing (which going 500 then 3000 would be) on any Storm ball that doesn't make any sense.

Storm balls are no different than any other, in that you can use whatever resurfacing steps you want. As long as it gives you the final surface texture and ball reaction you want.

It would be interesting to ask him, his reasoning behind the statement.

I'm going to be baking the ball, anyway. I'll scuff with the 500, sweat it, then do the 3000 and polish. I'll keep my fingers crossed while I'm doing this.
