    Default Attn ball spinner owner/operators

I'm about due picking up some new pads. I had the Abralon pads I got with the spinner and I can tell a couple have about seen their day.

Someone had mentioned the 3M Trizact pads but I have not been able to find a good source for these. Well not atleast somewhere i don't have to buy a 2yr supply lol. I've also noticed there are a couple different types. Which one do I need?

Is there another option I should consider other than the 3M that you guys have had success with?

I do not have an ebay account or buy from california due to the high security on my card.

Nothing wrong with the Abralon except for the lifespan.

    Thanks!

Beside Abralon, Theres Siaair and Jost pads.

There was Globals NEAT pads but they were way high priced and hard to get.

Standard Wet/Dry sandpaper is a option, it also now can be found in P scale grits the same as Abralon pads use.
(I use paper all the time, it's cheap and last longer).

There's also Scotchbrites, but they only come in a limited grits.

You might want to take a look here, they have good prices on pads:

    Also

As for what grits to get, a assortment ranging from 500 to 4000 will have you covered. Anything coarser than 500 is only really needed if your resurfacing (which different than refinishing) or plugging.

Aha! Jost that was the other name I was trying to remember.

I really like the feel of the foam backing on the abralon style pads. I don't think I could use paper, albeit cheaper. Even in woodworking I put it on an orbital or a sanding block haha.

    I appreciate the info!

You can use contour abrasion blocks (I have them) they are contoured to the shape of the ball. They utilize a hook and loop fastening system (abralons will stick to them)

I mostly just hold it with my hand though, thats how I org. learned to do it long before abralon came out. or you can take a old abralon and lay the paper on it use it that way.

I use the Polish Your Ball equipment. Very easy to use, and very consistent.

it's too bad you don't have an ebay account. I get trizact pads by the piece at a good price. These pads go a loooonnnnonggggg way. I have 1, 3, 5k..... The rest I are siaair pads from the link bowl128 provided. The cabs are easy to find too and you can find cheap ones.

    I don't recommend these though: https://www.buddiesproshop.com/shop/...ng-block-5619/

I got three of them, I bought one, but somehow I got 2 more and I can't remember why. I only needed one...well..... the adhesive on the block came loose on two of the three blocks I own. I also have a CAB (green) which is much much older. It was given to me before my friends shop was bought out. and the adhesive behind the Velcro came apart after 10 years.

The innovative one came apart within in a year or two of using them. (easy fix) Also, I did not get them at $20 a piece, but much cheaper than that. You just need to shop around. I Prefer the CAB brand better.

Ebay is they way to go for cheap supplies most times.

I appreciate all the info guys!

There is a combo of 20 pads I can get and save even more money. However the Jost isn't part of that deal.

Anyone give me any feedback on sia vs jost? sia would work out to 2.49 ea vs jost at 3.89.

    Thanks

Siaair pads last longer than abralon, and jost last longer than Siaair, if I remember. I was told this, never used jost.
