    Default PBA50 Titles

Who knows if PBA50 title wins count towards total wins for the PBA Title count?

I saw a listing a few months back and Pete Weber was close to the top but I remembered he had won a few 50 events, but not sure they were counted towards his total.

    Thanks for your insight.

Yes they do when they are talking "PBA titles". I believe regionals do as well.

There is also a distinction between "PBA Titles" and "PBA Major Titles".

So if I go pro at 52 years old and win 10 PBA 50 events or PBA 60 events or a combination of each.

Due they still count towards a possible bid to the Hall of Fame?

Due they all add up for a grand total of "Tour Titles"? You do hear the announcers say EJ Tacket with 7 titles and 2 majors. So does that equal 9?

OK. I'll stop with those questions.

No that means 7 titles all together 5 regular titles and 2
    major titles.

    Here is EJ's titles

    PBA Standard Titles (5)

    2015 - Lubbock, Texas
2016 - Carpentersville, Ill., Detroit (Bear Open),
    Las Vegas (PBA Team Challenge)
    2017 - Japan.

    PBA Major Titles (2)

2016 - PBA World Championship, Reno
2017 - FireLake PBA Tournament of Champions

I'm thinking to make a bid for the Hall of Fame you would
need something like 12 or more regular tour titles I'm not
too sure if PBA50 or 60 titles count for a Hall of Fame bid
but I could be wrong about that.

I'm not aware of any Hall of Famers that have a ton of PBA50 titles but very few PBA National Tour titles. Anyone??

Generally, you'd probably need at least 10 national titles to get Hall of Fame consideration and at least one major title. Another 5-15 PBA50 titles would help. Twenty tour titles would guarantee Hall of Fame induction. I'm not aware of any bowler with 20 titles that isn't in the Hall of Fame.

But...I think it's "possible" for a bowler to have zero National titles, no majors, and a bunch of PBA50 titles to get in the PBA Hall of Fame (performance). It's just that most PBA50 bowlers that have done well on the PBA50 have all been guys with PBA National Tour resumes.

Dale Eagle and Gene Stus are in the hall with no tour victories and John Handegard has only one tour win. Stus has 11 PBA50 titles, Eagle has 12, and Handegard has 14 plus the distinction of being the oldest person to win on the national tour.

Some of the early PBA members who were allready veteran bowlers in the early days of the PBA were voted into the hall of fame with less than ten titles. Some players from the 70s and later have made it in with a combination of PBA50 and regular tour wins. Pete Couture is an example with 5 tour wins, 9 PBA50 wins and 1 PBA50 major.

All in all, ten titles seems to be the threshold for making it into the hall of fame. Majors do seem to count extra for bowlers who are just short of the magic number. Regionals don't seem to count for anything.

Someday...I hope to add "Aslan" to that distinguished list! Long term dream/goal...to defeat Chris Barnes in the 2025 USBC Senior Masters, win 3-4 PBA50 titles, and win PBA50 Rookie of the Year!! Another 3-9 years of solid performances...maybe "Aslan" can be added to the PBA Hall of Fame with no National Tour victories. Although, a WSOB stepladder finals...in John Handegard fashion...a personal bowling hero of mine....would be nice too.

The PBA website has this posted as the PBA Hall of Fame Rules (since 2000):

For PBA Hall of Fame Performance Category eligibility, a bowler must have either:

Won a minimum of 10 PBA Tour titles.
Won a minimum of five PBA Tour titles, including two majors, and been a PBA member for at least 20 years.

For PBA50 Hall of Fame Performance Category eligibility, a bowler must have either:

Won a minimum of eight PBA50 (formerly Senior Tour) titles
Won a minimum of five PBA50 (formerly Senior Tour) titles including two majors and been a PBA member for 10 years
