Bowling has a unique language all it’s own, especially when describing the lane, which also known as the playing field. As a beginner playing with more experienced bowlers, you will undoubtedly hear terms that are unfamiliar. Keep terms like: boards, arrows, approach, dots, oil and more, will be defined and put into context for your next outing. In order to communicate to a coach or teammate, understanding the playing field is one of the first steps to increase your average. A bowling lane is longer than it is wide and our coaches will put this into perspective, dispelling some common myths on the way this is perceived.
