Default The Bowling Playing Field (The Lane)

Bowling has a unique language all it’s own, especially when describing the lane, which also known as the playing field. As a beginner playing with more experienced bowlers, you will undoubtedly hear terms that are unfamiliar. Keep terms like: boards, arrows, approach, dots, oil and more, will be defined and put into context for your next outing. In order to communicate to a coach or teammate, understanding the playing field is one of the first steps to increase your average. A bowling lane is longer than it is wide and our coaches will put this into perspective, dispelling some common myths on the way this is perceived. If you are just beginning in the sport and are looking to step up to league play, this video clip is a must-watch.

Thanks for sharing, bowl. This is a fantastic, very informative video. Kind of crazy to see the to scale lanes. Sometimes you don't realize how long they truly are.
