Well did a little better but think I might have hit on something at the end of the night. When I bowled before I threw at the first arrow 99% of the time. When I came back in January I tried that and kept pulling my shots. I found that if I moved in to the 2nd arrow I was less likely to pull my shots. I noticed in the fall league my ball wouldn't show a drop of oil but in this summer league I have a noticeable oil streak. If I hit the pocket I would be lucky to get a strike. Seemed like the only time I could get a strike was brooklyn. I tried moving in to the 3rd arrow and occasionally that would help but tried it tonight and couldn't hit my mark. In the 4th game tonight 5th frame I tried the first arrow again to try to get away from the oil and threw 4 pocket strikes in a row. The 9th frame was a pocket hit but left the 7-10....ugh. Got the 10 and it actually bounced out of the pit and back on the lane and rolled around the middle but didn't hit the 7. The 10th frame I yanked the shot and got the 6, 9, and 10 then left the 7 on the next ball.
So seems like I need to start trying that 1st arrow again. I was averaging in the 190's with that line 15 years ago. Funny thing is when I made that move tonight my speed slowed a little and it wasn't as hard on my knee.

So finished the fall league with a 173 but only averaging 154 in this summer league. Tonight my average was 176. My high game in this league was only 180.

    Game 1: 161 (5 strikes-3 in the 10th, 2 spares, 4 opens (1 split))

    Game 2: 180 (3 strikes, 6 spares, 1 open)

    Game 3: 173 (3 strikes, 5 spares-2 of those were 2-7 splits, 2 opens-3 splits)

    Game 4: 190 (5 strikes, 2 spares, 3 opens-1 split)

    Series: 704 (176 average)

    First ball average: 8.58

Much better night for me, not so much for the team. We bowled the last place team the first set and got crushed. Their one bowler had a 267 and a 247. His average was 195ish so a big deficit to overcome. We were giving them 2 pins. Game 2 they beat us by about 90. The 2nd set we bowled the 2nd place team but they only had one guy. Both bowlers had 229 averages so they got 209 for the blind score. We were getting 73 pins for handicap. We won the 1st game by 3 and the 2nd by about 45. So on the night we went 5-5.

So last week midway through the 4th game I tried my normal line at the first arrow and did much better. So tonight I played that line all night. Like a different bowler tonight. I still struggled with my spares but the strikes were there. I threw the old Storm Sync a few times too and it hit hard. Strikes about 4 out of 5 times I threw it. My ball speed was a a little slower and I felt more comfortable. My high game in this league before last week was 180. Game 4 last week I had a 190.

    Game 1: 189 (5 strikes, 2 spares, 3 opens-1 split)

    Game 2: 177 (5 strikes, 3 spares, 3 opens-1 split)

Struggled tonight but still beat my average. Seemed to hit the pocket consistently but not getting carries. Third game I decided to try my spare ball (Brunswick Rhino Pearl) and first 4 shots were strikes. Not much hook. Stood way left and threw over the first arrow and ended up being almost a straight ball angled into the pocket. That game if I was close to the pocket I got strikes. The 4th game that changed and I started having trouble hitting my mark with it. Struggled with spares all night (but was 3/3 on 7's). 10th frame of last game went back to my Hammer BWG and threw a strike then a pocket hit that left a pin that I picked up.

    Game 1: 185 (7 strikes, 3 spares-1 spilt, 2 opens)

Night got worse and my spare shooting sucks. Started the 1st game with a 201 (opened the game with 5 strikes in a row). 2nd game dropped to 176, then 159, then 148. Last game I had 0 spares. I really need to work on that.

    Game 1: 201 (6 strikes, 2 spares, 3 opens)

    Game 2: 176 (4 strikes, 3 spares, 3 opens)

    Game 3: 159 (4 strikes, 3 spares, 3 opens)

    Game 4: 148 (4 strikes, 0 spares, 6 opens)

Well used the new Brunswick Kingpin tonight. Definite improvement. Ball was about 3 boards stronger than my Black Widow Gold. Still struggling with spares and had about 6 splits tonight that really hurt my night. I still had a 195 average even with all those splits.

How on Earth did you leave that in the 4th frame of the 4th game?? It's not every day you see a split with 6 pins still standing. Wait! So you left a 2,4,6,7,8 & 10 if I'm reading the pin chart below the score correctly. That's saying that your ball hit the 1,3,5 & 9 which for a righty would be a perfect strike. Where the heck did the pins go when your ball hit them? Straight up in the air and stayed there? That shot defies physics and has to be the worst leave in history for a perfect pocket hit or perfect Brooklyn since your lefty.

The hollow circles are the ones that you hit on your second ball and the filled in circles are the ones you left standing after. The combination of those circles are what you left after the first ball. It makes no sense and can't happen. The only thing I could surmise is that the 2 pin really wasn't there and was a scoring error. Then on your second ball you actually hit the 4,7 and knocked the 4 into the 10 pin. Because if you hit the 2,4 and 7 you'd think you would have had the 2 knock out the 6 and the 4 hit the 10. Unless the 2 flew off the lane and missed the sideboard going into the adjacent lane, because how do you slide the 2 around the 6 leaving it standing to hit the 10? That just HAS to be a typo or scorer error that you didn't notice. I think you really had a 185 because you really had a 5 on your first ball. That or you had the pinsetter drop the pins so off spot that the Peterson Classic would be impressed. That made my brain hurt!

Arsenal consists of mainly 15# Motiv balls, I have several now and they are the bomb! Too many to list and carry. Still have a couple Hammer balls and my AMF RPM Swirl (old reliable) & 25+yr old Linds worth a mention
Currently 535+ Rev Rate @ 19 MPH (This probably needs to be updated, I think I've toned each down a click or two these days. I'm letting the ball do more of the work as I get older.)

Pretty sure that was what was left. I'm 100% sure the 6 and 8 were left after the 2nd ball. But it is hard to remember a leave like that after your first ball. By the time I throw my 2nd ball I can't remember what the 1st ball did. One of the perks of getting old...lol.
It was a weird ball though and my teammate even commented on how odd it hit. It hit just left of center of the headpin and the pins it hit went straight back and no ball deflection. Like it just rolled right through 3 or 4 pins and they blew straight into the pit. There was no bounce or no pin action at all. On the 2nd ball I hit it where I needed to but it was a pretty tough one to cover. It would have been a perfect 2-7 cover. The 2 went in front of the 6 and the 4 went between the 6 and 8. Not sure which took out the 10. And no idea how everything missed the 8. I did go cross alley so with that angle the ball must have deflected left enough to miss the 8 to the left side. But like I said, it was weird.

Another pretty good night on a personal level. We only took 3 out of 10 points so not a good night on a team level. Approaches were very tacky all night so that was tough. The new Kingpin was good again tonight. Throwing just inside the first arrow ball comes in nice. Did a little better on my spares too but still missed some easy ones. Still room to improve there.

The last 2 weeks with this new ball I'm averaging 194.50

Not a bad night overall but struggled my first game. Was much better with my spares tonight so that was good. We only won 2 games out of 4 and got 5/10 points so wished we could have done better. Teammate struggled tonight until the last game. I think he had a 218 or so the last game but I think his other 3 were about 160-180 and his average was 209. The last 2 games my Kingpin struggled even when I hit the pocket, which wasn't as often as I would have liked. Oddly I missed a few 4-7 spares but got the 7 so that was good that I was finally able to get the 7, and I did it with my strike ball (Kingpin). The last game I started hitting high and struggling to get it back in so started using the Hammer BWG and threw that a few frames and threw 3 strikes in a row with it then started struggling with it so went back to the Kingpin.

3 weeks with the Kingpin and I'm averaging 188.5 with it. I was at about 164 before this ball. My average is now up to 175.60.

Oddly I left 3 10 pins in a row, odd for a lefty. Also almost left 2 7-9s in a row but the 9 got bumped over the 2nd shot. These both looked like good pocket shots.

    Game 1: 160 (2 strikes, 6 spares, 3 opens-1 split)

Another pretty good night. Seemed like I was finally starting to get better at reading and adjusting. The lanes were a little drier tonight and the kingpin was strong. I moved over about 1.5 boards to the right (I'm a lefty) to hit the pocket. I started leaving 7 pins with good pocket hits so started thinking the ball was hitting at too much of an angle so switched to the BWG. After a few frames I went back to the Kingpin and started hitting light so thinking the oil had carried down the lane so moved back to the left and finished there pretty good.
On a good note I converted the 7-9 split but on a bad note I didn't see it. I went for the 9 and turned around when I knew I had it. A bunch of guys started yelling and came over to hi-5...lol. They said the 9 pin bounced out of the pit and took out the 7.
