Another nice night but I did blow the 3rd game. I continued where I left off last week with my simplified release. The Conspiracy picks up what looks like rubber streaking but not sure what it is. Last week I cleaned the ball before the 3rd game. Not sure if it made a difference but threw a 240 that game last week. Tonight I started struggling in game 3 and after the 5th frame I cleaned the ball and it seemed to react much better. Game 2 I left 4 7 pins but covered all 4 so that was nice. Last week I think I was 5/6 on 7 pins and tonight I was 4/4 on them. 2nd game I left 4 5 pins which is odd for me. Game 1 I missed an easy 1-2-4 which cost me a clean game but was able to finish that game with a 5 bagger. On another note I struck in the left lane every ball in game 1, including the 10th (7 strikes in that lane in game 1).

All in all I'm bowling much better the last 3 weeks since I simplified things. My average the past 2 weeks is 198.33 and the last 3 weeks is 194.11 but the last 2 weeks are the only ones since I simplified things. My overall average is 178.90 so definitely doing better. Tonight I was high bowler between both teams but mainly because the rest of our team struggled.

Another positive was I was 8/8 on single pin spares (4/4 on 7 pins)

Struggled tonight but still hit my average. Resurfaced all my balls today on the spinner back to OOB and tonight none would hook at all. Lanes were a little slick so that didn't help. Hit light all night until the 3rd game. And we got our butts handed to us. We were 100 over our average in game 1 but still lost by 28. Games 2 and 3 we were right on our average and lost game 2 by 161 and 3 by 69. One of their guys had a 794 and 3 were mid 600's.

I will post these but not going into too much detail. This was a tournament today with a 47' Scorpion pattern. No friction at all and no room for error.

Format was 3 qualifying session. First session had 47 entries. Top 8 made it. I think I finished 23rd (135, 156, 153 (543 handicap series)). 2nd session was better (219, 135, 166 (619 handicap series)). Finished 7th and top 8 made it in. 3rd session I sat out. Won a bracket in the 2nd session too.

On to the eliminations. 1st round top 7 moved on bottom 7 were out in a 1 game shootout. I shot a 198 handicap game and was #7 so moved on. 2nd round there were 8 byes that came back in and top 8 moved on. I had a 158 handicap game (186 was the last position). I was out.

I played everywhere from 5 board to 15 board and there was no hook at all. Tried the Kingpin at 1000 OOB and the Conspiracy at 3000 OOB. After the 1st session director gave the ok to sand balls or whatever you needed so I hit the Kingpin with a 500 and the Conspiracy with 2000. Not much better. I think just about everybody there was sanding after that 1st session.

If you hit anywhere outside the 2nd arrow the ball would go straight. For me if I hit the 9 board at the arrows my ball would take out the 7. Seriously. So the best line I found was the 12-13 board.

Well back to regular leagues here. Had a few issues. Thumb was apparently swollen a little from the tournament Sunday cause my thumb kept sticking in the Conspiracy. It had stuck a few times before and I should have had him open it up before but I didn't. So used it most of the first game but had to put it away and use the Kingpin. Did pretty good until the transition. Just couldn't adjust. Moved in, moved back, etc. and just couldn't hit the pocket then 3rd game started missing easy spares too. We won the 1st game by about 80, game 2 by about 80 again then lost the 3rd game by 7.

Rough night tonight. We were 1st half champs and now seems like this half every team we face bowls their best night. Tonight 2 guys with ~205 averages had a 760 and a 728. Their other guys didn't bowl bad either.

I started with the Conspiracy. Found the Kingpin is about 1-2 boards lighter than the Conspiracy with their current surfaces and the BWG is quite a bit lighter so not likely to use it. 1st game I was targeting the 7 board as usual and was in the pocket almost every shot but slightly light most of game 1. Started adjusting near the end of the 1st game then started hitting high. Switched to the Kingpin and no better. Decided to take a big swing and moved my feet and target 2 boards left (outside). So now targeting the 5-6 board and that was it. Right to the pocket.

Struggle bus showed up again. Threw the Conspiracy all night. First game I started on my usual line but couldn't get to the pocket with any consistency so a couple frames in I moved my line out to the 5-6 board. Hit the pocket about every shot but no carry and the ball just wouldn't move. Tucked the pinky under near the end of game 1 and that was the magic. Finally got rotation and movement on the ball. Threw 6 strikes in the next 7 frames starting in the 10th of game 1. Game 2 was clean and good and thought I was set for game 3. Then the wheels fell off. Ball started hitting light and left 3 splits in the first 6 frames. After that just couldn't convert any spares.

Well would have been a good night if not for game 2 but I did realize something. Used the Conspiracy all 3 games and targeted the 6-7 board at the arrows all night. Game 1 was good except a few missed spares that shouldn't have been. The first 5 or so frames were great then it started falling apart. Game 2 wasn't any better. My ball quit breaking then I noticed my speed was about 1 MPH higher than it was at the start of the night. Game 3 I focused on keeping my speed down and had my best game of the night. So I think when I start seeing transition I subconsciously start throwing harder then it just snowballs from there.

We bowled the last place team tonight and they were short a bowler so had to use a blind score and they still beat us the first game. There was no handicap for either team. We bowled 4 below our average the 1st game and lost by 29 (the blind score was average-30 pins and they still beat us). Game 2 we bowled exactly our average and won by 50. Game 3 we finally came around and bowled 55 over our average and won by 15.

Struggled tonight again but think I made some progress. Lanes were pretty dry outside (6-7 boards) to start. In warmups I couldn't hit the pocket but that was me. Before I get too far in let me say that my spare shooting was horrendous. And I'm not joking there. Started game 1 with a light hit strike then hit light again the next few frames. Tucked the pinky to get a few more revs and it was perfect and hit a 3 bagger then went high and left a 4-6. Had 5 opens and 0 spares in that game. Game 2 I untucked the pinky as I started hitting a little high and moved 1/2 board left and was dead on to start game 2. Opened with a 2 bagger then a 7 pin that I converted then a 4-6-10 split. 5th frame left 1-2-4-5 and left the 5. Threw a 5 bagger after that then a 5 spare in the fill for a 217 but still only converted 2 spares and had 2 opens. 3rd game started strong with a 4 bagger then it fell apart. Left another 4-6-10 in the 5th then a 7 pin with a conversion then another 7 that I missed then 3 opened in the last 4 frames for a 174. Only 3 spares out of 14 with 11 opens. Had 17 strikes on the night. We played the team with the highest average in the league and won 2 of 3 and got total pins but they struggled. In the 3rd game I started leaving pocket 7's and made a small adjustment but it didn't help. Lanes got real dry by the 3rd game and I should have moved in or tried my other ball. In the end we won that game so it ended well. We won game 2 by 216.
