The power game today almost requires planting your foot for leverage, however at my age my knee can't take the pounding. There is a tremendous amount of pressure put on your knee and hip when coming to sudden stop rather than sliding to a stop.

I learned to plant because of horrendous approaches. Never consistent and usually tackey. I can bowl in tennis shoes, but appease the bowling center and wear bowling shoes. Works fine for me...210 avg. Now, if I ever wanted to be a 230 avg bowler I could spend a solid year or 5 breaking my entire game down from scratch, including longer strides and a slide at the end of my approach, but hell, I'd be pushing 40 and probably ruin the fun of the game before I ever surpassed my current avg.

Default How do you get the "balls??"`

I have been a "stroker" since I was able to slide...

How or what does it feel like?

DO you approach slower than normal?

Or do you go full force...? My anxiety is that I will fall abruptly and break my jaw??

How do I complete the change?? I want to throw 450 rpms with a 16 mph + ball...

    Please help?

    Aloha,

I have been taught by my coach to have the ball and ankle (left ankle as I am right handed bowler) be parallel to each other on my last step (four step approach I use) and find I slide naturally.
