    Default Gym class bowling

This week during the day while at work we had 3 batches of high school kids come in each day Tue, Wed and Thurs. They came in only for 1 hour each time with their teacher. What I didn't realize is they were coming in for gym class. They are doing this for the rest of March and April. I found worksheets one had left behind regarding different types of releases and they had to explain what they learned on the lanes that day. Monday and Friday they are in classroom learning about bowling.

They are calling it a "league" but it's really not since they pretty much only have time for one game. Either way, I found it interesting and kinda cool that the high school was doing this. It's not something the kids sign up for like a league, it's part of the school curriculum. I think it's a good thing to get the kids out there like that when I'm sure many of them would have never otherwise gone bowling. It's good exposure for the sport. I am also happy to report they are all well behaved. They all bring their shoes back to the counter (untied) and put their house balls back on the rack where they got it and clean up their mess. Very nice.

It would be interesting to see the worksheet, if you could post a scan or photo of it.

I gave it to the teacher when the next class came in, it belonged to one of the kids. I could always ask the teacher for a copy of what they are working on. She may give it to me, it never hurts to ask.

A little different but when I went to Penn State many moons ago there was a bowling alley across the street and bowling was an option for the gym class requirement.

Is anything taught about it like the fundamentals and maybe how to keep score or is it just a trip to the bowling alley for a game?

I never made it that far...lol. I never smoked anyway and really hate smoke. That's part of the reason I didn't go back to bowling a few years ago. Just hated being around it. As far as me and PSU? That ended after about 1 year...lol. Ended up going to a community college then years later finished my B.S. at a different school.
