Thread: Congrats to John Nolen

    Default Congrats to John Nolen

Congratulations to John Nolen on winning his first PBA tour title, while also making the first televised appearance of his career at the USBC Masters. He came into the show as the top seed, and was able to edge out Danny Wiseman, 202-193 to claim the title. The pressure of television didn't get to him, and that is quite phenomenal coming from a relative newcomer. Great bowling John.

Tho John may never see this ....I became a fan VERY FAST after seeing him throw the ball in person at the TOC's in Las Vegas just a few weeks ago. I need to say congrats and the better Bowler did win but it was hard to watch because Danny is my boy and would love to have seen him win. Its tough as a tournament player to have 1 lane that you are in full control of anf the other one has you .....Im disapointed in the scores as I thought the shot should have played a bit higher(IMO)

Congrats John and we will be rooting you on for the next 2 years !!!!

I was pulling for Tommy Jones, but right from the start he had a good and a bad lane. Once he started missing his mark on his good lane, I knew he was doomed

John Nolen is from my area, north of Detroit. He's a heck of a bowler. My claim to fame is that I was matched up against him in the 2006 Detroit Masters tournament, in the winners bracket, and was lucky enough to beat him. He had a horrible 3 games against me. He did recover to finish 4th, while I finished 8th out of a field of 160. I doubt I could ever beat him again...I was in the right place at the right time in my match against him. He will be a name to be reckoned with for quite sometime now. I've followed his career since that point. He bowled the US Open later that year, finishing in the middle of the pack, and some PTQ's before winning the RPI. He tabs on him....his game is very simple, and he is not afraid of anyone.

"Nolen placed fourth averaging 204.5 and winning $650. After qualifying 22nd with 1,601 he beat Eric Tulley of Southfield 687-644 before losing to Keith Kingston 593-489. In the lower bracket he beat Jason Battishill 656-619, Edward Grace 718-577, Gary Wodowski 638-520, Ryan Wilson of Garden City 617-571 and Paul Szumny 659-636 before being knocked out of the tournament by Austreng 632-559."
