Default Highest average after one week of league season?

Curious what the highest average has ever been after one week of season? Meaning of the handful of sanctions 900 series have any occurred during first week of season?

Must be nice coming in following week and seeing your average as 300

I don’t pay much attention to what my average is from week to week. In one league, my teammate fills out the recap sheet, in the other one, the averages and handicaps are already filled in by the center. I do remember a 150 average bowler who threw a 279 the first week and then struggled to hit his average for two or three months.

Well I'm the opposite....lol. Took my 173 average and started the summer league with a 150 average the first week. I sat out last night as we are on a 3 man rotation on a 2 man team but a teammate has a 204 average and had about a 160-170 last night. We should be in good shape next week if we bowl decent...lol

Never been an issue. We use a 21 game cushion so you don't have your real average for 7 weeks. Even then we use a 10 drop rule.

Years ago I started a league with 788 (279-268-241). We ended up loosing 5 points because my handicap ended up at negative 43. I finished the tear at -15 for handicap. On a side note we won the league and I shot 787 in championship match (249-259-279). Due to the negative we only won the last game by 8 pins (front 9 and solid 8 to start the 10th). It was tough fighting with the negative handicap.
Still love the game but had to quit because of my left leg amptation

Actually we keep our average from last year for i think the first 4 weeks. either way my average is 25 pins higher than i have been bowling the last few weeks so that isn't good. Definitely have some stuff to work on next week.

Generally speaking, my average is always much higher during the first month. Then some bad habit will creep in, and toss me into a prolonged slump. It will take me about 2 months of tweaking things to clear up that habit. Then I will get hot again. This summer I'm going to find a coach, and try to get some consistency.
