Logically, hitting your target is the same as not missing it. Psychologically, the way you phrase an objective makes a big difference. Very few people respond well to negative goals. Say if the shot is near the gutter and one of your early frames starts with a gutter ball. If you start thinking “don’t throw it in the gutter”, you’re almost guaranteed to throw the next ball right in it or overcompensate to the point of sending the ballalmost into the opposite gutter. Always try to frame your goal in positive terms.

Right, instead of thinking "Don't miss, don't miss" the thinking should be "Okay, all I have to do is hit the target, hit the target" Exactly, that's what I was saying. It's basically the glass is half empty or half full. Optimism vs. pessimism, positive vs. negative or confidence vs. lack thereof. I get it. I just need to carry the positive to the Sport that I have on THS and treat them both like they are the same. Sounds easier than it is.

Arsenal consists of mainly 15# Motiv balls, I have several now and they are the bomb! Too many to list and carry. Still have a couple Hammer balls and my AMF RPM Swirl (old reliable) & 25+yr old Linds worth a mention
Currently 535+ Rev Rate @ 19 MPH (This probably needs to be updated, I think I've toned each down a click or two these days. I'm letting the ball do more of the work as I get older.)

When I first tried bowling in sport leagues, I was told, “It will make you better.” I found this is not exactly true. Some people use the sport conditions to expose the short comings in their games and work to fix the problem areas. Others let the challenging conditions destroy their confidence in their ability to make good shots, paticularly on spares, and it screws up their game for months.

Yep, up to you which way you want a sport shot league experience to take you. If nothing else, you will get great spare practice.

Coming off that 706 on Thursday I went in with the attitude of killing it on sport. Once again epic fail. I suckity suck sucked! Top game was 188 of the 3. I went in like last week using urethane and it seemed the right choice had I not been wiffing spares. Finally I decided enough was enough and pulled out my reactive changed my wrist position and turned on the crack it machine. It was working, when i switched I threw a nice turkey and we needed it. Then the crank it machine then was too much and I had back to back greek churches which I didn't convert and that killed us. From that point I did okay but I didn't get but one point on the night. Still missing way too many easy spares. I left a 1-2 and chopped it! Such an easy spare I should have converted in my sleep. Even if I bowled well our team was out gunned, it wouldn't have mattered in the end.

Sorry to hear... I suppose you may have learned your lesson... Strikes are for the show and spares are for the dough...

Meh, I'm not upset or anything. I actually did better than the rest of my team, guys that average 30 or more pins higher. The only bad thing that happened was the 6th frame of game 3 I went to pick up an easy spare. When I threw it I don't know what happened but my thumb came out, my fingers hung in the inserts and bent back until they cracked, then I heard the pop pop of the fingers coming out of the inserts and the ball went right in the gutter at the approach. I went down to my knees. It was like a bowl of Rice Krispies on the approach. Even the opposing team gathered around me on the approach to see if I was okay and I never met them before.

I thought the days of being in pain like that were behind me. I don't know how I did it or what I did but it hurt. They cracked up by the hand not at the knuckles. I sat back down at the table rubbing them and was able to finish the game but I had little to nothing on the ball, virtually no turn. Worst part was throwing a strike first ball in the 10th so then I had to throw two more. Probably the one time I wish I would have just opened. It still hurts today but I think I'll be okay by thursday. If not, then it will be whatever it will be.

No new scores to update for last Thursday, this past Monday or even next Monday. I've had to miss the first two due to work and I have to work next Monday night already. My Assistant Manager duties have kicked in full force because one of the others left to pursue another career so I'm picking up the slack. I've been at work more than I've been off it seems lately. I haven't so much as thrown a bowling ball since the last post. Tonight I get to bowl on non-sport league but honestly not even looking forward to it since it's at work. I feel like I'm there so much my truck just drives me there itself like it's on autopilot. On the upside at least I'm making money, not losing or spending it. We'll see how I do tonight, maybe once I get there I'll be more in the mood after a cocktail.

After further consideration and the "AUGH" response I got from wifey when I told her I had league tonight. I think I'm just going to take tonight off bowling and get a night of rest. I haven't got to see my wife or kids since Saturday, I think it would better to spend some quality time with them vs. a bunch of goofs. Besides, I can make a nice home cooked meal rather than eat bowling alley food or take out. I'm quite burned out on both. I'm sure the family will be quite surprised and happy.

Just admit it...you're afraid of the low scores on sport shots. LOL!
