I don't see too many anymore. Other than little kids. Even if you have 4 balls I always felt it was part of owning a ball

I don't do it to any of my bowling balls but the pro shop will do it if you ask them. My daughter has her name on her bowling ball.

I think that went out with the increase of volume of balls that were being put out. Now everyone "Has" to have the latest and greatest so they get resold a lot. They're harder to resell with a name on them.

I had my name on the ball I bought around 1990 but used it until around 2002 then quit. Bought a few new balls this year but no names on them.

You don't see that much anymore except for kids, some new bowlers. It was more of a thing back when everyone had basically the same ball.

After you get your name on your first ball. Usually that's the last time you do it. Mostly because if you want to resell it, give it away or something, it can make it harder. (Not too many what a ball with someone elses name on it that they have to get filled.)

Sometimes though if someone shoots a honor score (300, 800 etc), they will have the score (maybe the date too) engraved on the ball they did it with. But even that is really rare anymore.

Right handed Stroker, high track ,about 13 degree axis tilt. PAP is located 5 9/16” over 1 3/4” up.Speed ave. about 14 mph at the pins. Medium rev’s.High Game 300, High series 798

I still do it. I don't sell my bowling balls anyway. If anything they will be hand me downs to my son. I'm sure his ball could say worse things than his Dad's name. He still likes me at this point so no issue for him. Heck, my Black Hammer was originally my mom's in 1985 and it says "JILL's" above the big hammer on the side. I'm not ashamed of it. If it was MY dad's name then it would be in the river or sitting on a house ball rack somewhere. Still a great spare ball and good on THS.

Arsenal consists of mainly 15# Motiv balls, I have several now and they are the bomb! Too many to list and carry. Still have a couple Hammer balls and my AMF RPM Swirl (old reliable) & 25+yr old Linds worth a mention
Currently 535+ Rev Rate @ 19 MPH (This probably needs to be updated, I think I've toned each down a click or two these days. I'm letting the ball do more of the work as I get older.)
