Idol on long patterns

Saw Duke win with the idolon that 48ft pattern. I got one as my starting house shot ball. It hooks quite a bit. Could this ball match up on long sport patterns too or did he do something to the ball use apad. I have stayed away from long patterns because I only have an extra ball intended for short. Didn't buy one for long.

If you adjust the surface you can probably get almost any ball to match up to any pattern. Some balls may match up with different patterns better because of their cores and layouts but I would think you could adjust surface to make it playable.
