    Default cracked skin

So after bowling 8 games Sunday in the tournament the pad on my ring finger feels a little hard and there is a crack in my thumb and middle finger on the side by the nail. The thumb was like that after Sunday but the 2 fingers didn't start until after league last night. So about how long do these usually take to heal up? I have had similar injuries before not from bowling but never really paid attention to how long till they were better. Noticed today I had blood around the edge of my fingernail from it. Hoping I will be ready for next Tuesday otherwise I will probably sit out. Couldn't use my Conspiracy last night cause the thumb hole was too tight so apparently my thumb swelled a little too.

Welcome to my world. Once I get to winter, my middle finger gives me the middle finger. Most of the time, it's just a small crack, and usually heals up in a few days. Here and there it gets bad, and I have to use a mesh patch to bowl because the crack hasn't closed up. It is always on one side of my finger, and never one my ring or my thumb. I try to do a good job of using moisturizer in the winter, but I am a man, and I'm not always diligent about it. I can say that getting rid of finger inserts made things much better for me, but it's still an issue when it's cold and dry.

The "patch" kits can be had at nearly every pro shop. It's a bunch of thin, round mesh pieces that you use a crazy glue-like adhesive to cover the crack. It works surprisingly well, actually stays put, and for me doesn't cause any tightness in the finger hole. Downside is it can be tough to remove, and you need acetone or fingernail polish remover to get the residual off. If you can put up with that, it may be a decent, economical way to go.

Thanks Timmy. Will look into that. Mine isn't due to dry skin I don't think. Mine is from bowling too many games. Maybe dry skin contributes to it? Not sure but I never get cracked skin in these spots

This has been happening to me for the first time this winter. Hand cream seems to help prevent it some, but once it's cracked it's going to be for a few days. Those buggers can get deep, too.
