Question What does 500/royal compound mean?

On DV8 (and other Brunswick company brands) bowling balls, we often see the finish stated as 500/royal compound.

I always assumed this meant they hit it with 240 Siaair, then 500 Siaair, then finished with Royal Compound. Is that the case? Is that how Brunswick does it and what they mean by "500/Royal Compound)" as their 'box finish'?

500/royal compound means you sand with 500 grit first then apply Royal Compound.

That's the process for you at home to try and replicate the factory finish with a spinner. The factory finish done at the factory is different though, because it's done with factory production machines not spinners.

Always best to hit a new ball with a pad before using. That way you know you can always replicate its surface at home on your spinner.

My PSO hit my Radical Conspiracy with a 3000 before he gave me the ball. Same as advertised OOB but the ball was quite a bit shinier than the untouched one he had on the shelf.
