    Default Boatmans 2019 fall league

So had to pre-bowl today to start our fall league due to summer league playoffs overlapping tonight. Talked to counter guy who said the lanes had not been oiled yet today and they were closed the last 2 days so likely not oiled since Saturday morning. Started out the first few frames with the BWG hitting pretty good but wanted to try the Conspiracy and kept hitting high. Went back to the BWG and couldn't hit the pocket. Near the end of game 1 switched to Conspiracy and went out to about the 6 or 7 board and it was coming in nice then. Towards the middle of game 3 I could see the ball rolling out early (like just past 1/2 way) but it was still smashing the pocket so I stayed with it. Now have to bowl tonight for summer playoffs.

Week 2 of fall league. I sucked. I ordered new CTD pads and didn't realize how worn my old ones were. Today I hit the Conspiracy with a new 2000 and the Kingpin with a new 500. The 2000 on the Conspiracy was too much unless I moved way inside but I'm not comfortable playing there yet. I also slowed my speed way down which didn't help that issue. I didn't touch the BWG but even that was coming in too hard with the slower speed. Lanes were tricky. I wasn't the only one saying that tonight. We had 5 lefties on our pair and I know the 3 on our team were way further right than usual. But even with that my spare shooting was horrendous again. I might as well close my eyes and chuck it.

Unreal. Not sure what is going on. Absolutely horrible night. 9 strikes all night. Heard alot of complaints about lane conditions tonight but I should be able to figure this out. About mid-way through game 1 I was so frustrated I know it affected me. Heard a couple talking at the end of the night about how dry the lanes were and said they were standing at the left gutter and throwing cross lane to hit the pocket. None of my balls would come in. After hearing that it makes me thing they were rolling out but it didn't look like it. But then again I'm on the opposite side of the lane.Every ball I threw tonight came in light. Tried from the 5 board to the 10 board. 10 board I could hit the pocket but kept leaving corner pins and wasn't consistent so moved back outside.

A little better tonight. Got the new Squatch pearl. Talked to the PSO when I got there and he commented about how dry the lanes have been and saying he has sanded all his balls to about 4000-5000. He is a very hi rev bowler though. He was beside us tonight and every ball I saw him throw was the Radical Zing. I saw he had a 715ish tonight. So I tried the Squatch in warmups and it felt good so tried the BWG one ball and it felt ok too. It still went long and turned pretty hard at the break point where the Squatch was smooth and continuous.
So used the Squatch all 3 games. First 2 games I was in the pocket almost every shot. Ball seemed pretty forgiving if I wasn't perfect. That has been a struggle lately. Game 3 I started missing a little so moved further outside and got back to the pocket again. The first 2 games I was targeting just outside the 10 board at the arrows. I started hitting high a couple shots early on and made a 1/2 board adjustment and was right back in the pocket. It was much more predictable than I had been. So game 3 I moved out to the 6-7 board and got right back to the pocket again.
Still struggled with spares but was much better than I had been. I had planned to use the Rhino for every spare but didn't. I did use it more than I had. I converted the 2-7 twice tonight the right way. I usually miss that one and if I do make it it's because I messed up and kicked the 2 into the 7 even though I was trying to go between them. Used the Rhino both times.

Unreal. A tale of multiple issues tonight. Started out in warmups...3 tries with the Squatch 3 pocket strikes. 1 try with the BWG and a pocket strike. 1 try at the 7 pin and perfect. Picked up the spare using my strike ball on that one. Perfect! Then we started the game...

First ball was a Brooklyn. After that started hitting light. Left (2) 1-3-6-7's in game 1 (and 2 more later). Failed to convert any of those tonight. Those were the only 2 opens in game 1 but I only had 4 strikes.
Game 2 was miserable. Couldn't hit the pocket or convert spares. Hit light, hit high, and when I did hit the pocket I didn't strike. Lots of 7 pins. 2 more 1-3-6-7's, missed both. Only had 1 strike and 6 opens. Converted the 6-8-10
Game 3 was much better. 6 strikes and only 1 open (4-6-7-10). Got the 4-6-10 but left the 7.

Game 12 used the Squatch. Started out targeting the 10 board then near the end moved out a little. No luck. Game 2 tried the BWG but not better. Went back to the Squatch and tried a little further outside and moved into the 15 board for a couple shots. No luck. Game 3 I moved back out to about the 6-7 board with the pinky tucked and was on fire then. Only open was the 4-6-7-10, which I almost made.

7 pins were much better tonight. 4/5 on 7's and also had a 7-10 and made the 7 and had a 4-6-7-10 that I targeted the 7 and almost converted it. So counting those I was 6/7 on 7 pins. But I rarely leave 7's, maybe 3 a night average so I was leaving alot of them.

Well finally a better night. Really odd that I'm averaging 180 and only have 4 600's in 55 weeks of bowling (not counting summer leagues where we bowl 4 games but have 3 800's in summer league in 23 weeks).
So on to tonight. Went in with a positive attitude. Started with the Squatch pearl from around the 7 board. Strikes and spares were both good tonight but struggled with the transition. Late in game 2 started leaving corner pins then game 3 started missing my mark. Ended up leaving 2 pocket 7's in a row so switched the the BWG and started striking again. We bowled a team that is near the bottom with us and they were 1 bowler short. We lost game 1 by 10 then won game 2 by 147 then won game 3 by 96. A couple of teammates struggled but I was high series for our team tonight. Overall happy with how it went but need to make some of these spares I missed and continue this.

Thanks. I tried to maintain focus that night. In my previous bowing career we still had paper score sheets and I always sat at the score table and didn't socialize. My focus was on the lanes and the game. Now that we don't have any seating down there it has become much more social for me and I notice I am not as focused as I used to be and sometimes forget what change I made on the previous shot that might have helped. I also tried to take a little more time to try to get focused before my shot. This was also one of the first times I really noticed the transition. Usually I am too inconsistent to be able to tell if it was me or the lanes. Game 2 I hit the pocket with near perfect shots the first 7 frames. The first 5 were strikes then I left corner pins the 6th and 7th with identical looking shots. I knew then that the lanes were the problem. I tried a couple of moves that didn't work but once I changed to my BWG (which has a little less surface) and it went a little straighter with more angle to the pocket. I also started tucking my pinky to get more rotation and that fixed it. Part of my struggle has been identifying whether the problem is me or the lanes. The other night I definitely recognized it and was able to fix it. Felt good....lol

Another 600!. Didn't think I had a chance at it tonight. Lanes were very dry. I can say with confidence that I left more 7's tonight than I ever have in 1 night. Thankfully my spare game was good. 7/7 on 7 pins! Has to be another record for me there.
So started with the Squatch pearl out around 8 board. Worked for about 4 or 5 frames then started coming in light. Adjusted a little and was decent but not great. 2nd game started leaving 7's (3 in this game). Moved in a little, changed speed, tucked pinky, changed balls. Nothing. Still leaving pocket 7's. 3rd game tried the BWG and the Conspiracy and still leaving pocket 7's (4 in game 3). Finally in the 8th frame I moved in to the 11-12 board. I tried this earlier but struggle with consistency inside the 10 board but tried again and hit my mark every shot until the 12th. Threw a 4 bagger then in the 12th I tugged it.
Wished I could have thrown a few more strikes tonight but my spare game was definitely good so that kept my scores up. Splits were crazy tonight. I'm betting that between both teams we had at least 20 splits. Wasn't just us. I looked on both sides of us and those teams had a bunch too. Corner pins were crazy tonight.
