Default Do you change it up?

For those of us that don't have a 20 ball arsenal, do you change up aspects of your approach, release or arm swing to adjust?

Most of the time I adjust my wrist position on setup and through the release. Other times it's foot speed or looking closer or father down the lane for my target. Situations and conditions dictate what I try but that's a couple examples.

    What do you do?

As I am severely limited, having to use entry level equipment because of my slow ball speed at the hands of my fragile bones, I change it up quite often. I vary my axis tilt, my rotation, and occasionally my ball speed. My rhythm always remains the same, but I change up my ball speed by changing the song that I'm singing in my head: faster song = more ball speed.

The song is on a 33 Boatman, you have that record player in your head set on 78. Wow I'm old, just knowing enough to use metaphor like that? 😮

I'm fortunate to have plenty of balls to choose from I guess. Lately I've been tending toward more sanded balls than the shiny ones I would use most times several years ago.
I find that changing things up has more to do who or what team our team is playing against. The seniors I get to bowl don't make me have to change much of anything.
During the men's leagues it's a different story. If there are guys winging it down the lane with plenty of revs, then transition rises it's ugly head. On those nights I may have to change balls two or three times to try and keep hitting the pocket. Taking four balls plus a spare ball is always an option.
I've been keeping the Storm Code X and IQ Tour in the bag all the time. Tonight I brought the Storm Hy-Road Pearl and the Hammer Dark Legend. The Dark Legend is now at 3000 grit and it worked quite well tonight for the final two games after starting with the IQ Tour. No speed or hand position changes needed...

My arsenal currently is pretty limited/narrow and I've been forced into changing some of my release aspects so far this season to get a good angle and read through the pocket. Over the last year or so I've developed a heavier roll which hasn't been great for our new lanes/pattern. While I regularly vary speed/angles somewhat, last night I put more side roll on the ball which ended up working like a charm. It's definitely not the first tweak I'll make but it's good to have at my disposal if needed.

I actually think the more balls I have the more lost I can get. I don't think I would do any better with 6 balls than I would with 3 but that's because I'm not knowledgeable enough yet to grab the right ball. I find myself switching balls too often sometimes instead of just making an adjustment

So why don't you learn about bowling balls so that you can grab the right one?

The last 10 weeks of summer league I brought and used the same strike ball..I don't avg 230. I blame myself for not striking ..not the ball. Is ball choice part of the reason I only avg 200. I'm not sure. It might help..but I don't see that lanes differed that much ..

Working on that. Just that there are so many other things going on the learning bowling balls isn't as high on my list as other things but I do pick up a little here and there. Definitely learned more in the past 6 months.
