    Default Boatman37's summer 2020 scores

Wasn't planning to bowl summer league but went to pick up my new ball I won but it wasn't drilled yet. Turns out they had the league meeting tonight then league start right after that. I told a few guys I'd bowl if a team needed a body. So after the meeting I was about ready to leave when the owner came up and said another team needed a bowler so I signed up.

3 man teams bowling 4 games. Used the Squatch all night targeting the 7 board at the arrows. Only made 1 minor adjustment all night. Spares still weren't great. Threw a 10 bagger with 2 Brooklyns in there. We lost he last game by 3 pins. I opened the 10th with a strike but then an 8 and only picked up 1.

    Game 1: 167 (4 strikes, 5 spares, 2 opens-1 split)

Picked up the new DV8 Glam tonight but wasn't getting good movement early on with any of the 3 balls I tried but that was probably user error so went back to the Squatch to figure it out. Did like the feel of the new switch grip in the DV8. Never used one before. Struggled bad in game 2 with tugging my shots but got that figured out in game 3.

Got there early and threw a practice game with the new Glam and threw the Squatch a few times in the middle for comparison. The Glam seemed a little tamer and weaker, which is what I was looking for. PSO said he drilled it that way as that was what I wanted. Didn't care about score but threw a 186.

Used the Glam the first 3 games but it was coming in too hard. Moved in to the oil, picked up speed, etc. End of game 3 couldn't keep it on the left side of the lane. The last 2 weeks the Squatch was good all 4 games so grabbed it and was back in the pocket after a few bad balls. Left more splits tonight than I probably did all last year. Surprisingly the Squatch would hold my line while the Glam would jump across the head pin.

Game 4 we were down by 24 with only me left and I had opened in the 9th so I needed 2 strikes and a 5 count. Problem was I hadn't struck in that lane the whole game and was struggling with it. Opened the 10th with 2 pocket strikes then a 9 count to win by 3 or 4 pins. I love pressure.

Nice going with the clean second game. Most of the time I like the pressure too, although it is nice to get on the approach in the tenth frame knowing that you only need to knock down four or five pins to win.

Struggled this week. My consistency was off, thumb was hanging up later in the night, balls just weren't behaving, etc. Lanes seem to be drier than usual since returning a few weeks ago. Had a little miss room with the Squatch but the DV8 Glam needed to be spot on. It would smash the pins if it was but miss the pocket if you weren't right on your mark.

Lane conditions at our local center have also been much drier since reopening. I have noticed that I need to use my weakest ball (Radical Cyclops Pearl) most of the time now. Prior to the closings, I rarely ever used it and needed to use much stronger equipment. Not sure if that is a function of the center using less oil to keep costs down, oiling less to keep costs down, or a combination of both. They have also been keeping it a little warmer in the center which can impact the lane conditions too.

not sure. there was another lefty last night playing my exact line so i tried moving in a little after a few frames but not much change. i tried the Squatch and the DV8 Glam. Most of the issue was me but even when i did hit my mark and the pocket i still wasn't getting the strikes i normally would. left a bunch of 4 pins (5) last night also a bunch of 7 pins (7). i wanted to try my Black Widow Gold but it was at home

Another tough week. Tonight was position round. We lost the first 2 to the first opponent then they re-calculate standings and figure out our next opponents so we lost those 2 also. I struggled the first 2 then started figuring it out. Talked to the PSO when I got there and mentioned I thought the lanes had been pretty dry this summer season and he agreed. Before I get into tonights scores I want to mention that all of my balls have the flats up on my inserts but the DV8 Glam he put the round side up Been having trouble with it rolling off my fingertips but hadn't realized the inserts were upside down for my liking so gonna have him flip them next week. So far I do not like that ball but that might change after he fixes that. If I miss 1 board to the outside it goes straight and I have no revs on it at all. I also told him to drill up the Uppercut for next week. That is the 2nd ball I won. Don't really need it but might as well use it.

So the first 2 games I struggled to hit the pocket. Same as last week. Tried different balls, different lines, etc. The end of game 2 I grabbed my old Conspiracy. That ball does better in oily conditions but these were dry but nothing else worked. I do like how the Conspiracy fits in my hand. It's drilled from the same drill sheet he used on all my other ones but something about it feels better. Finally got some revs with it and started hitting the pocket. Realized then I had been releasing square to the line. I started turning a little and it felt so much better. Realized I had not been doing that the last 2 weeks or so. The Conspiracy started coming in too hard so switched back to the Squatch and got back into the pocket. Spare shooting was good tonight but just couldn't get strikes and when I did I couldn't string any of them together.

2nd game really hurt my night. 3rd game we bowled decent as a team but our opponents rolled 256, 265, and their 3rd bowler had about a 105 average and rolled 136.
