Wow! Just wow! My worst night probably since I returned to bowling and likely worst since I was about 12 or so. Absolutely nothing I did tonight worked. Tried the Uppercut, Igniter, and even my old Rhino. Lanes were dry. Moved all the way from the 5 board to the 17ish board. Couldn't buy a strike. I hit the pocket alot but left a bunch of 6 pins and a few 10's and missed many of those. Tried really getting around the ball and tried flattening the hand and staying behind it. Last week I had 22 strikes. The week before had 18. The week before that 18 again. Tonight I had 5! Spare shooting was horrible too. I definitely wasn't on my A game tonight but even when I did hit the pocket I couldn't strike.

Wow. Talk about ups and downs. Geeesh. Last week had a 416, likely my worst since about 1985ish. Then tonight got my best series ever. I think I know what happened last week. Realized I wasn't getting the wrist 'flick' that I had been doing. Either way it worked tonight. I sanded my Uppercut on the spinner with a used CTD 1000, then a used 2000, then a brand new 3000. Used it all 3 games tonight and barely made an adjustment. Slight speed and moved back about 1" or so on the approach. That's it. Targeted the 10 board all night. Games 1 and 2 were clean then I missed a lousy 10 pin in game 3 to ruin a clean 30. I had a 725 and teammate had a 673. My previous beat was about a 657 or 665 or so.

Well struggled again tonight but was able to still up my average. Used the Uppercut. Was pretty good in warmups but struggled to find the pocket early on. Was targeting the 10 board but would either hit slightly high or slightly light. Missed a bunch of spares too. Game 2 it started coming to me a few frames in. Threw a 7 bagger to finish it out. Game 3 couldn't get the left lane. Left 2 7 pins in a row with strong pocket hits so moved back a little to get the ball a little higher then left a 10 pin the next shot. And had to finish in the left lane too. Can't complain when a bad night when I beat my average. My spare shooting got better after the first game. Even tried the Squatch a few shots but the thumb was a little loose and I tugged 2 in a row squeezing. Put a piece of tape in and the next 2 stuck so put it back.

Man, weird night. I had 17 strikes but struggled. Only rolled 545. Missed most of my spares. My accuracy was just off but I was getting good carry on my strike ball. I was physically and mentally beat when I got thee so wasn't expecting much.
Used the Uppercut the first 2 games then the Igniter for game 3.

Bowled in the Sahara Desert tonight. It was dry to start and very bad by game 3. Started with the Uppercut with a fresh 3000 surface and wasn't my most accurate night but carry was great. Rolled a 253. Early in game 2 I started moving in and even after about a 10 board move I still couldn't keep it on the left side. I was getting so far right that I had to be perfect to get it to come back so switched to the Igniter. I had hit the Igniter with a used 2000 today because it has not been hooking. Should have left it alone...lol.In the end I was way right and throwing pretty hard but very erratic so moved back to a straighter line and took my hand out of it.

We won the first 2 games but got smoked the 3rd game but we bowled the team that was in 1st the whole first 3rd.

And splits killed us. We had 10 as a team in game 2

    Game 1: 253 (9 strikes, 1 spare, 1 open-1 split). Started with the front 6

We had a bye tonight so I did a little experimenting. In warmups I tried every ball I had just to see what they did. Haven't thrown a few of them since I changed my release. Lanes were on the dry side again. Game 1 I tried the Uppercut, the Igniter, the Conspiracy solid, and the Black Widow Gold. All overhooked and I couldn't keep it on the left side of the head pin. Game 2 went to the Igniter and picked up speed. Was hitting the pocket pretty good but wasn't getting carry. Pins were just falling over but not scattering. Moved further inside and same thing. Game 3 went back to the Uppercut and back out to the 10 board and picked up speed and started striking. Still not much carry but they still fell.

Very frustrating night. For starters we have husband/wife teammates and they texted me about 15 minutes before we were leaving saying they weren't coming cause the roads were too bad? Roads were fine and a few people asked me why they weren't there and when I told them they looked at me like I was nuts. We have 6 people so if they had let me know sooner we could have got that other one to bowl so it wouldn't have hurt as much. Our league has a 30 pin penalty for blind score so we took a 60 pin hit each game right off the top.
Now on to my night. Threw about 7 balls in warmups and struck every ball except the one I threw at the 7 pin. Had 8 strikes in game 1 and 8 in game 2 and 5 in game 3. Problem was I hardly had any spares. My spare shooting was awful. Used the Uppercut all night and was in the pocket the whole time except in the 3rd game I started struggling with my release. Finally got that back about 1/2 way through game 3.

Between both of those issues I'm tempted to just drop out for the year. I'm happy I'm striking like crazy but to have 21 strikes and only roll 574 and then to not have reliable teammates just makes it worse. And even when they are all there we still lose 2 out of 3. We are just a very inconsistent team. We finished in last the first 3rd and we are probably close to last already after 3 weeks of the 2nd 3rd.

I'm sure I'll stick t out but I'm very frustrated right now.

I am a huge proponent of "short season" leagues. I believe the era of 32+ week leagues is becoming impractical, and that leagues should shift to a 17 week season. It would be easier for people to commit to a 17 week league, it would be less expensive for people who normally struggle to afford a 32 week league, if you end up on a team that doesn't mesh well you aren't stuck together for 8 months, and if you love your team and want to stay together you all just join another 17 week league when the other one ends.

Instead of Fall and Summer leagues, it would be Fall session, Winter/Spring session, Summer session. Sure, prize funds would be half of what they normally are, but the league is half as long and some of that could be made up with lucky strike/50-50 ticket sales.
