Those double position rounds really hurt when you’re having an off night. At least it’s still relatively early in the season.

yeah my one teammate is really struggling. I just met him when we started this league 5 weeks ago but his book avg was listed as 198. Right now he is at 170 so we took a big hit the first few weeks until the new averages started being used. On top of the the first 2 weeks i did good so my 'new' average was higher than normal and now the last 3 weeks i have struggled. Our 3rd teammate missed the first 2 weeks so we had a blind score those weeks but he is doing good since he has been here. Last night my one teammates average was 174 at the start of the night and he rolled 168, 154, 154, and 156. He is a little older and throws about 12 MPH and the lanes have been dry so he has struggled to keep it on the right side. He said his one ball is plastic and it still hooks. its a very old dinged up ball so no idea what it is

Horrible night but got redemption last game. Picked up the new Uppercut tonight. Threw it in warmups and is was perfect. Towards the end of the 1st game it started crossing over the head pin. Moved in, sped up, etc. Still crossing the headpin. Switched to the DV8 Glam and didn't like it so went to the Squatch. Hit the pocket but kept getting 8 and 9 counts. We were getting crushed every game. We were on 39 and 40 and on 40 there was a slick spot on the right side. I threw at the 7 on a 7-10 and slipped. A couple frames later threw at a 7 again and slipped again. Guy on the other team almost fell when he stepped on it walking back from his shot. So any time I had to go cross alley it was in my head. My spare shooting was horrible at best. Last game I switched back to the Uppercut and stayed more behind the ball and started hitting the pocket. Spares game got better too. I really like the Uppercut but just needed to learn what it likes.

UGH...more struggles. But on a positive note I was able to add some versatility to my game. Threw a practice game before league started and used my Uppercut. That ball was hooking hard on the back end so I wanted to play with it. I ended up moving way right (I'm a lefty) and throwing way left. Never been able to do that. The ball always went straight to the 4-7 and wouldn't come back. So tonight started the 1st game with the Uppercut standing on 25 and throwing over 13 at the arrows. Ball was breaking at about the 10 board. Hit the pocket nicely but if I missed to the outside it woulsd't come back so I moved back out a little to cut down my angles a little. Moved my feet left about 3 boards and targeted the 10 board. This worked good too. I liked the reaction I was getting but I struggled being consistent. Our team is next to last anyway so I figure this is a good time to practice this line...lol. Game3 switched to the DV8 Glam and moved back out to the 7 board but kept leaving 7 pins so switched back to the Uppercut. I don't care for the Glam. If I hit the pocket perfect it's great but if I'm off a little forget it. No room for error with that ball so far. Speaking of 7 pins...0/4 tonight. Ugh. My spare shooting was horrible all around. In fact...our team was horrible. I like the fact that I was able to move way in so now feel comfortable having that available if I need it. I'm sure I would have been better if I had tried my Squatch later on but wanted to work with the Uppercut to move around and see what I could do with it.
Bowled one of the top teams the first 2 games and won both. I was anchor and their anchor left a 6-7-10 in the 10th. I needed 2 strikes and I think a 4 in the 10th to win. Got it. We won by 6 I think. Game 2 was similar. Their anchor threw a strike in the 10th then left a 2-4-7. That opened the door for me and we won that game by about 5. Their team average was 665 for 3 guys. Ours was about 550. I think their averages were 232, 220, and 207 or something so for their anchor (the 232 guy) to screw up the 10th both games was rare. Game 3 one of their guys rolled a 279 with a 216 average. We lost that game by 183. next game we lost by 16.

Have you done any surface tweaks to the Glam? The factory finish may not be best for your game. According to DV8, it comes 500, 1000/Crown factory compound. You could consider adding some polish, although that might make it long and jumpy. Another option would be to very lightly scuff it with a 4000 pad to help it read just a wee bit sooner and maybe roll just a wee bit stronger in to the pocket. Whenever I decide I don't like a ball, I use that as an opportunity to make surface changes figuring I have nothing to lose.

Years ago I had a DV8 Marauder that I simply couldn't get to work. Finally did a total surface change from factory glossy finish to 500 + Compound and the thing came to life. Turned in to one of my all time favorites.

yeah i haven't touched it or the Uppercut yet. I figured I would try it out first to get a baseline. Hadn't really used it much until last night. I have a spinner and all the pads so might try a 3000 or 4000 just to knock the polish off. We have been bowling a warm up before league most weeks so maybe i will take my pads with me next week and just throw that ball and test different surfaces. i really like the OOB Uppercut. but these 2 are the only ones i have that are OOB. the rest have all been hit with a pad at some point

Much better tonight. Shot my best ever game but followed that up with mediocre games. But I was able to make good adjustments. First 2 games were the Uppercut then the last 2 with the Glam. But the Glam is cracked. About 5 games on it and noticed about 3 or 4 small cracks around the thumbhole. Showed the PSO and used the ball tonight then left it with him to see about getting it replaced.

Have not been happy with the Glam. Had to be dead on to strike with very little to no room for error. Today I put it on the spinner and used CTD pads. Started with 500, then 2000, then 3000, then 5000P. Really liked this ball tonight.

I 'fell' off a ladder Saturday and hurt my back. Thought I was at the bottom step but wasn't. Didn't actually fall but jarred my back in the process and it is hurting. Then yesterday cut my thumb and it apparently is slightly swollen cause I could hardly fit in my normal insert and even had to take the tape out of the bigger one then it was slightly loose.

Game 1: 279 (11 strikes, 1 spare). The 6th frame hit the pocket but very slightly high and left a 6 pin. Every shot was in the pocket

Game 2: 180 (5 strikes, 2 spares, 4 opens-1 split). Lanes started to transition and my ball speed crept up)

Game 3: 179 (4 strikes, 6 spares, 2 opens). Switched to Glam and was sort of sticking in the thumb

Game 4: 192 (4 strikes, 4 spares, 2 opens). Moved in a little to get oil

Final night of league tonight. I struggled to hit the pocket all night. Tried 3 different balls and played everywhere from 5 board to the 15 board, really getting around the ball and up the back of the ball. Nothing worked. I was just off tonight. We were in 18th place of 19 teams so we weren't real motivated either. Tonight was double position round. First set we were up against the 17th place team. We won game 1 by a few then got spanked in game 2. Then they re-calculated the standings and we went up against the new 17th place team. Won the first game by about 7. 2nd game these guys smoked us. All 3 struck into the 6th frame and finished with 259, 248, and 247. They were all about 210 average bowlers.

Tournament next Tuesday so I will probably enter that. Fall league starts 9/1

    Game 1: 161 (4 strikes, 3 spares, 4 opens-4 splits)

    Game 2: 199 (5 strikes, 3 spares, 2 opens)

    Game 3: 178 (4 strikes, 3 spares, 3 opens)

    Game 4: 199 (4 strikes, 6 spares, 1 open-1 split)

    Series: 737

    Average: 184.25

    Running average: 184.77

    First ball average: 8.20

    Strikes: 38% (17/44)

    Spares: 60% (15/25)

    Single pin spares: 71% (5/7)

    Splits: 25% (1/4)

    7 pins on the season: 46.67% (14/30)

Here is a shot of my main bag. DV8 Glam, Radical Squatch, Brunswick Uppercut, and Brunswick T-Zone

Wow. That seems like a fast summer league! We still have 3 weeks left on our summer league, and then Fall leagues start the first week of September.

Yeah our fall league and summer league are both Tuesday nights so they can't overlap. Summer league was only 9 weeks. It usually starts early May and ends end of August
