See a TON of people doing that in the league we just moved to The team we bowled last night was grumbling a little, as my 207 average walking in last night got me 12 pins handicap, and then I dropped 729 on them. I don't sandbag--what you see me bowl is always as good as I can give you. It's just not in me.

I agree 100%. I always give it my all when I am bowling. Some nights are better than others, but I always want to leave knowing that I gave it my all, regardless of the outcome.

I never understood how some bowlers can feel good knowing they were purposely under performing to keep an average down. I mean, the prize fund in most handicap leagues isn't worth the work and effort to try and do such a thing.

Wife is consistent! Tonight she rolled 113, 106, 96.

I had an up and down night. Warm ups were tough then started the first few frames struggling to find the line. I was tempted to pull out the Conspiracy but finally got the pocket about the 4th or 5th frame of game 1. Line was still working until early in game 3. I was targeting the 2nd arrow all night but early in game 3 it started hooking too early and crossing over. I knew I either needed to move into the oil or ball down. The last few weeks I had been using the Uppercut the first 2 games then going to the Igniter and really like that ball so decided to switch. Well the Igniter would not hook at all at the 2nd arrow so about 1/2 way through game 3 I moved out to the 7 board and that was the line. Salvaged a decent 3rd game but was disappointed after the first 2 games were so good.

We bowled the PSO's team and they won the first 2. I had a 626 (232, 208, 186), teammate had a 654. PSO had a 724 using the Radical Results pearl all night. By the end of the night he was lined up with the left gutter and throwing out over it crossing the whole lane. 2 other of their team members had a 681 and 654.

I'm feeling really confident lately. Last 3 weeks were 608, 597, and 626. I was 4/4 on single pin spares (2/2 on 7 pins). Have the confidence that I can move around if I need to. The way I started tonight I normally would have struggled mentally and took much longer to figure it out. Average is up 11 pins in the last 3 weeks (191.77 now). Want to be at least 195 by the end of the year but think I can get to 200. Still lots of time left.

Bored again so figured I'd post these.

Stats are up for last night. Here were the scores:

    Our team (Averages)
    136 176 146 (149)
    160 246 248 (200)
    113 106 96 (99)
    232 208 186 (me) (191)
    157 186 180 (190)

    Them
    255 221 248 (PSO) (229)
    188 222 171 (204)
    264 237 180 (227)
    225 265 164 (213)
    203 179 188 (owner) (190)

They were spotting us 180/game handicap. They won game 1 by 157, game 2 by 22 and we won game 3 by 85. We are tied for 5th place of 11 teams. Our opponent is in 2nd.

High games last night were 288, 268, 266. High series were 732, 724 (PSO), and 709. Surprisingly we have not had any 300's yet this year.

Wife kicked butt tonight but we still lost all 3. She had a 133, 121, 128 (382). Her average was 99 before tonight. Her high game was 123 before tonight. Her new average is now 103.3.
We had 2 members pre-bowl and they struggled a little so we had our work cut out for us. Didn't help that the other team was on fire. the 2 pre-bowlers had 446 and 469 series and their averages are 146 and 190 respectively. One of our teammates had a 184, 235, and 192 (611). His average was 200 before tonight. I had 2 tough games then 3rd game clicked. Had a 177, 189, 254 (620). My spare shooting was awful. Would have been a great night if I would have made even half of my spares. We were on the end pair and they seemed to transition quick and got real dry. I started with the Uppercut targeting the 10 board. I was hitting the pocket good but missing spares. Early in game 2 it started drying up so I started moving in but was chasing it. Moved in about 5 boards and after a couple of frames I would lose it so switched to the Ignitor about the 7th frame of game 2. Tried the 10 board but ball wouldn't come in. Moved out to the 7 board and picked up speed and nailed it. Had 10 strikes in game 3. Started with 3 then an open and spare then finished with the back 7.

Game 1 we were 22 under our average and they were over by 4. Game 2 we were over our average by 63 and they were over theirs by 32 but they still won by 1 pin. Game 3 we were exactly on our average and they were over theirs by 4 again. We were getting 31 pins handicap.

I'm happy with my strike % the last 4 weeks but I need to be more consistent making my spares. Tonight I was 6/12 on spares and 3/5 on single pin spares. I missed an 8 pin and a 10 pin. The last 4 weeks my average is 204.16. My strike % is 54% and my spare % is 64% with 84% single pin. 9/11 on 7 pins so that has been good. I was 1/1 tonight on 7 pins.

My highest season end average ever was 193 and that was about 2001 before my 17 year break. I'm at 193.9 now. Soft goal is to be over 200 by the end of this season and hard goal is 205.

Well standings are updated and I'm 8th highest average in the league...kind of...lol. Only those with 21 games are eligible so that eliminates a bunch of higher averages...lol. I'll probably be closer to about 20th in a couple of weeks

I have only managed my abverage once n my life for 3 weeks. First night of bowling I shot 768 which gave me a -453 handicap. The next 3 weeks i went 90 clean but did not throw the right ball to styrike.. Shot 630-650 each week and lowered my average to 228 which left me at -17 which i could deal with. Finished year at 226 and -15 for handicap.. during those first 4 weeks we only won 15 of 28 points. We won the second half and only won the league by 8 pins because i shot 289 game 3. The next year they raised the base average for handicap from210 to 225
Still love the game but had to quit because of my left leg amptation

Wife still getting better and still consistent. 105, 106, 128. Average now is 104.58. Me? Well I'm going the other way. Tonight I had a 142, 155, 119 (416). Only had 5 strikes all night. My last 3 weeks I had 22, 18, and 18 strikes respectively. Had 5 tonight! Hit the pocket quite a bit but left pins. We lost all 3 again. I think we have lost all 3 for the last 3 or 4 weeks.

I tried everything. Uppercut, Igniter, and my old Rhino. Played from the 5 board to the 18 board. Tried coming around the ball and stayed behind it. Could hit the pocket every way I tried but no strikes. Lanes were dry. Don't know what else I could have done. Oh well. On to next week.

Not blaming my surface at all for last weeks debacle but looked and realized I had about 27 games on the new Uppercut and it still had the OOB surface and had not been touched. I ordered new CTD pads the other day and today I put it on the spinner starting with a 1/2 worn 1000, then a fairly worn 2000 then a brand new 3000. Will see how that works. I had been using 1/2 worn 3000's on most of my stuff lately but wanted a little more separation between the Uppercut and Igniter so should get it here. Uppercut looks slightly more aggressive than OOB. Going to take my Squatch with me in case the Uppercut is way too aggressive. Last week lanes were on the dryer side so the Uppercut may be a little difficult if they are that dry again. The Squatch should fit right in between the Upercut and Igniter so will have that in case I run into issues.

Good night. Used the Uppercut all 3 games with no adjustments. Wife hit her first stumbling block tonight. She had an 82, 93, 115 but her average will only drop 1 pin from 104 to 103.

I will post my details in a new thread
