    Default Ball fitment question

Got my Uppercut and Igniter about a week apart from each other from the same PSO and both drilled by him. I love the way the Uppercut comes off my hand and the rotation I get on it. The Igniter just feels a little different and more rolls off my fingers and I get way less revs and it almost looks and sounds different when it hits, almost like a thud. I'm thinking maybe a slight pitch difference? Or could it be surface? Maybe even psychological? Teammates even commented on how weak it looks off my hand. It more or less just rolls down the lane with no skid. I would think even at 2000 it should skid. Maybe try a 3000 or 5000? I will say that if I hit perfectly in the pocket it smashes the pins but if it is off a little it just 'thuds'.

Gonna test my Squatch out with a 5000 to see if it can replace the Igniter. I know the core numbers are similar to the Uppercut but just testing. Gonna try to get some practice in tonight. Will test the Squatch and the Igniter. Might try hitting the Igniter with a CTD 5000P after a few shots to see if there is a difference

I have been doing great the first game with the Uppercut then struggle adjusting in game 2 then game 3 the Uppercut is too much ball. I switch to the Igniter and after a few frames I tend to go back to the Uppercut and just try a new line because it does better then the Igniter even on burned lanes. Moving in to the oil with the Igniter seems to make it weaker.

Thoughts? I have a Brunswick Rhino too but rarely ever use it

EDIT: just looked back at my notes and the Igniter was sanded with a new 2000 CTD then a slightly worn CTD. I have about 4 games on it since then. So that surface was probably closer to a 2500-3000 with a worn pad? I have all new pads in about every grit and have Motiv 5000 polish but haven't used it in a long time

Since it feels different, takes the two balls to a different pro shop and have the layouts measured. Just because someone owns a pro shop doesn't necessarily mean that they know what they're doing.

Just got back from a few practice games. I was focusing more on mechanics and timing and trying the other balls. I still had the same results with the Igniter and tried the Squatch with 5000 but it was still pretty aggressive for late in the night. I went back to the Uppercut to get a baseline and then tried the others. I could get some rotation on the Igniter if I really cranked it. Think I'll try removing some surface and see what that does. A few weeks ago I think they forgot to oil the lanes and that was the weakest ball I had with me.

I like that idea Rob but I think the next closest PSO is about an hour away. I have heard good things about him though so might have to take a trip down there.

Wife got a couple of videos of me last night so she is going to show them to her co-worker, who is a Dick Ritger certified coach. See what she says

Please get the grips checked! In this era of anyone who’s halfway serious a out the game having an arsenal it is very important that all your balls be drilled identically for fit. Each ball should feel the same. Pretty close isn’t good enough. You have already realized that the Igniter doesn’t roll the same off your hand. Different cores and different layouts will affect the down lane reaction, but both balls should come off your hand the same. The whole idea of an arsenal is to have a variety of shot shapes without having to change your release. Having one ball that you have to “really crank” is going to mess with your consistency unless you’re using for throwing straight at spares.

For the heck of it I checked my inserts on both balls and they are the same size. Didn't think that was it but figured I'd check it.

Looked back at my records and I actually had some pretty good games with the Igniter when I first got it. The first night I used it I left it OOB then hit it with a 3000 then went back to 2000. I went ahead and hit it with a 3000 again tonight and will try it tomorrow.

OOB i rolled a 181 and 178 with it. Then with the 3000 I rolled 228, 218, 254, 142 and 170. Then back to 2000 and rolled 152 and 202. Hit it with a 2000 again and rolled 179, 181, 186, and 181. I just remember the last few games with the 3000 it wouldn't read the lanes at all.

Will update tomorrow if I need to use it.

Wife said her co-worker certified coach (female) rolled a 760 last night. She watched y video and said i need to work on my arm...lol. i didn't have a side view so she couldn't see much but basically my head is about 10" or so left of my slide foot so all of my weight is hanging over my left side then with a 15lb ball hanging out there too no wonder i'm off balance and hopping. and my ball is about 12" away from my ankle at release. gonna see if she can work with me a little

I have wondered about this because how far right of your target you say you stand.

Igniter felt and looked better tonight with the 3000. Maybe psychological? No idea but it just felt better. Maybe that was because they all sucked tonight? Lanes were messed up and nobody could strike consistently. Will see how it goes next week. Tonight I even pulled out my old Black Widow Gold and threw up the 5 board almost as hard as I could throw. That was my best line tonight and I tried all the way in to the 20 board.
