    Default Expanding League

Our league just finished our 3rd week of bowling with 14 teams.

We were notified after bowling that there is interest by two more (possible partial) teams interested in bowling.

Being unsure of the "true" commitment, we (the executive committee) are wondering if we can leave the schedule as is for the 4th week, and if one or two of the additional teams show up have them bowl on the next pair of lanes. Then on the next week convert to a 16 team schedule. Otherwise, we would have to wait to make sure the bowlers show up and then have all the teams moved to accommodate the new schedule.

    What would you guys do?

I don't know standard procedure in these cases but maybe either let the 2 teams face each other like you said or if only 1 shows up give them a bye and let them bowl by themselves (following existing 'bye' rules) and they forfeit the first few weeks they missed?

I can only say how the Thursday league of which I am a member, would handle this. If the extra lanes are available and all 14 team captains voted to allow the new teams to join. The new teams would also start with zero points.
