Default Good afternoon for my team

A bit of background first, my Thursday afternoon league is a fun/social league, not exactly a senior league but the majority of the league would be eligible to join one. Christine, our lead off bowler, throws a back-up ball. Her husband bowls on another team in the league, our opponents today as it happened. Bob, our second bowler is new to the league, replacing our token lefty who had to quit because of a back injury. His old league folded when COVID-19 hit. This was only his fifth week of bowling. I bowl anchor.

Christine was over her average all three games, 42 pins over in the second game. Bob was also over his average for all three, saving his first 200 game since joining us for last. I was in the zone. My only opens were on a 4-6-7 split, a 1-2-10 washout and a 4-5 split. First game was 227, second 256. Third game started with a turkey, left a 3-10 in the fourth that I made, and then went sheet for a 278. That 761 series is probably my all time high.

For our league there were higher scores than normal. On the pair next to us, both anchors started the second game with the front 8.

A good night for me is always a good night.

But, a good night for the entire team...that is a SPECIAL night. And not just because I'm on a team of crybabies that will throw temper tantrums if they have a bad night.

I'm not an expert in probability but my gut instinct says it's less likely for a ten of four or five to all at least hit their average all three games than it is for a team of 2 or 3. Of course having one player having a bad night has more of a detrimental effect in doubles or trios.
