As far as I'm concerned, PAP is something that your ball driller needs to know. The revs, speed, axis tilt and rotational also good pieces of information to half when when choosing a new ball. Many younger bowlers that I know are convinced they have a lot more revs than they really do and still think they need to be able to put even more revs on the ball.
If you really want to calculate your Rev rate you need to place a strip of tape from above the fingers toward the PAP. This should be much easier than trying to count the revolutions of a little square of tape on the PAP.
Anyway, don't get hung up on your numbers. The only number that really matters is how many pins you knock down.
