Default Tried getting my PAP tonight

Tried getting my PAP but not much luck. Set up my phone to record. Think the PAP is pretty close at 4.75x .25 up. Put a sticker there and it looked like it was pretty close on the recording. As a lefty my PAP looks like about 20* tilt and 55* rotation. Sound somewhat reasonable? Not so sure how accurate those are. Tried using the track method to measure my tilt but I tried 3 different balls and not a drop of oil on any of them. Oddly my buddy was also there and his ball had a nice track using the same lanes as me. I tried my Conspiracy solid with a duller finish, my Uppercut with a little shine and my T-Zone plastic ball. No oil at all on any of them. I even tried throwing right down the middle to hit the oil and still nothing.
I used Hudl Technique for recording and every video looks like 12 rotations and it took about 2.5 to 2.7 seconds to go from my hand to the head pin so about 17 MPH based on charts I found. That only translates to about 275 RPM which doesn't seem right.

I don't know much about what these numbers mean as far as what it should or shouldn't do because of them.

Plan to get it checked by a pro soon just so I have these numbers and can be confident they are accurate. Once I get those numbers I want to see if they can check my current ones that I use and see what they are drilled at. I like how my Igniter rolls so may keep that as one of my preferred layouts.

As far as I'm concerned, PAP is something that your ball driller needs to know. The revs, speed, axis tilt and rotational also good pieces of information to half when when choosing a new ball. Many younger bowlers that I know are convinced they have a lot more revs than they really do and still think they need to be able to put even more revs on the ball.

If you really want to calculate your Rev rate you need to place a strip of tape from above the fingers toward the PAP. This should be much easier than trying to count the revolutions of a little square of tape on the PAP.

Anyway, don't get hung up on your numbers. The only number that really matters is how many pins you knock down.

Very true. Numbers, numbers, numbers. My ex was hung up on numbers. She asked me once... "Am I the only one you've ever been with?" I said "Of course you are, no need to worry about that...The others were 8's and 9's!" I'm out!

Yeah I had a strip of tape on when I counted revs but this pic was taken before I put that strip on there. I took about 7 videos of about 12-15 shots. And my PSO has never checked any of that stuff. I have seen him do it for others a few times but I have mentioned it several times and hasn't happened yet. But you are right in that knocking down pins is what matters. I'm a numbers nerd though and just like to have data. I can't complain about how my stuff is drilled or how well it works but who knows how it would be with a 'properly' layed out ball?

Interesting what you see when you video yourself. I had always felt I stayed behind the ball the whole way through, even too far behind the ball. Here are sequential pics from the same shot. First one is on my backswing where you can see my hand clearly behind the ball. Second is on my downswing and my hand is starting to come around the side of the ball. The third pic you can see my hand has completely un-cupped and in more of a suitcase release.

Posting videos when I can't even get a photo to show up? Show off!

In shorts too? Is it only WINTER in Illinois or something? Who bowls in shorts in December? Well, Rob could get away with it given that it's only hotter at the equator than Vegas right now. Only you and the UPS delivery guy are wearing shorts right now Boaty!

Dude I wear shorts anywhere I can get away with it, no matter the time of year...lol. I hate pants. I think I have only worn pants twice so far this winter but I work from home so often go a couple days without leaving the house. Going to the mall with my wife here shortly so will put jeans on for that just cause people will look at me funny (well funnier than usual). But funny thing, me and a guy on my team both had shorts on last night and another guy on the team said we looked like we were headed to the beach...lol.

BTW-it was 22* when I left to go to bowling last night. But I did have a jacket on

Don’t forget mail carriers. Or is it only in CT where they compete to see who gives up first and puts on the long pants for winter?

One of my friends bowls in shorts all winter, but he has some sort of autoimmune disorder and literally can’t feel the cold on his legs.

To me it looks like you have completely un-cupped in pic two and is coming over the top of the ball.
