Another rough night but we won 2/3 again. We were on the end pair which I usually do pretty decent on. We had 4 lefties but that usually doesn't affect me. I'm really struggling to strike, mainly with the Xponent. Game 1 was in the pocket most shots but left a bunch of corner pins. In fact, both teams left a bunch of corner pins. Spare shooting was decent. About 7th frame of game 2 I switched to the Pi and moved in a little and created a little arc to get a better entry angle. With the Xponent I was straight up the 7-8 board. With the Pi I moved my feet 2 boards in and threw at the same target but the bigger entry angle let me kick out the 7 and 10 better. Had a clean game 3. My first clean game this season but I'm at 86% on single pins and 8/9 on 7 pins. Missed one tonight just barely inside. Spare game has been really good this season. Now if I could just start striking.

When everyone is leaving corners it’s probably something with lanes or perhaps the pinsetters.

I seem to have days where the easier it is to strike, the worse I do shooting spares.

Oh man. Seeing that many single-pin leads almost triggers PTSD.

We have an older guy in both my leagues...he's one of those guys that has been bowling regularly for probably 40-50 years. Sometimes I'll look over at his score and see:
    X, 9 /, X, 9 /, 9 /, 9 /, 9 /, 9 -, 8 /, 9 / 9.

The dude is a machine at picking up single-pins...which is why he's one of the better bowlers in both leagues...even though he usually struggle to get his shot to carry.

No bowling for me tonight. We had a bye and all 6 bowlers were there and me being unemployed for the past 5 months I sat out. Based on our league rules we need to be within 50 pins of our average to get the win. Last time we had a bye we lost all 3 games...lol. Tonight we won game 1 by 82 pins. We lost game 2 by 54 pins and lost game 3 by 58 pins so went 2-5 on the night. Pretty pitiful considering most teams go 7-0 on their bye week. Overall it seems scores are down this year and alot of people complaining about how dry the lanes are, especially the last 5 feet or so. Tons of splits all across the league and lots of corner pins. I might grab an old pearl ball out of storage to try next week. I'll have to see what I have down there. Maybe find something with a longer pin?

Rough night. Finally was able to strike but spare game suffered tonight. My spare game had been on fire this year so far. I was 8/9 on 7 pins. I think I went 1/4 tonight. We lost the first 2 games but won the 3rd game so went 2-5. Most guys are struggling so far this season but we seem to be getting hit hard. Used the Pi games 1 and 2. Bellied it out a little game 1 but 9th and 10th frames it stopped working so moved out and tried going straight up the 6ish board. That didn't work. Had no miss room and lost a few frames trying to make it work. 10th frame of game 2 I switched to the Altered Reality as that ball likes to be bellied out. Worked out pretty well.

    Game 1: 216 (7 strikes, 2 spares, 1 open-1 split)

    Game 2: 161 (4 strikes, 3 spares, 4 opens-1 split)

Not too bad. You made a couple splits and ran quite a few strikes together in Games 1 and 3. It was just a rough Game 2.

About to give up. I hit the pocket all night and 9 count after 9 count. We can't strike for anything. The other team threw at least 15 Brooklyns tonight. The one frame the guy left a 7 pin then right before the sweep dropped a pin fell out of the rck above it and knocked it over. Game 2 they left 4 splits and covered 3 of them. And their average is lower than ours so they aren't a great team. They were at least 50 pins above average every game. I tried the Xponent in warmups but kept throwing 9 counts and the ball wouldn't make the turn. Threw the Pi up until the middle of game 3 then tried the Altered Reality. Wasn't any better. Just overall frustrating and I'm at the point I don't are anymore. Threw my balls in my bag and left. First time I ever left without cleaning them. I'm going to start going in every week expecting to lose all 3 games so if we win 1 it's a bonus.

There have been 2-3 seasons where our team was near last. It makes you wish leagues still gave awards for last place...like a toilet bowl trophy or towel or something. Gives ya SOMETHING to look forward to.

You'll get it back. Your game is too good and you're too young for this to be anything other than a slump.

It's the whole team. Me and another guy are about 200 averages. I'm at 194 and he is at about 175 this year so far. I talked to the PSO tonight about the oil pattern. He said nothing has changed in that sense. Tonight wasn't any better but I did gather some info. I'll post it in the nightly league wrap-up right after this.
