Thanks but back to reality tonight. In my defense both teams struggled and it's one of my worst pairs there.
Started with the Altered Reality. We had 4 lefties but none of us are real high rev. But one was throwing an Eternity Pi and another throwing the Zero Mercy solid. Not sure what the 4th was throwing but he is very low rev (and the owner of the place). First 5 or 6 frames was good but then started getting an erratic roll. One ball would be light, the next high, etc. I made a small adjustment but no help. After awhile saw my ball deflecting and I was leaving quite a few 7 pins. Switched to the Ember and almost the same look so went back to the AR for the last few frames of game 3 and moved left a little to hit a little higher but didn't help.
We won 2 of 3 games. One guy on the other team has a 244 average. He rolled 716. About 30 below his average. The one lefty has a 228 average and rolled 565. Righties struggled too.
Bowling our county association open tournament this Sunday at a center I have never been to. Asked my PSO about it tonight and he said everyone has been struggling. He said just angle it from the gutter to the pocket for your best chance. Asked my coach and he said stay between the 10 boards on each side. Outside of that is no mans land. The tournament is every Saturday and Sunday in March. They said there have only been 2 800's so far. I will be taking my AR but gonna re-surface it back to what it was last time I re-surfaced it. Will probably leave the Ember alone as I just re-surfaced it last week and haven't used it other than a couple of frames. It's a 3000 surface. AR is also at 3000. Gonna re-surface my Eternity Pi with about a 1500 just so I have something with surface and will take my short pin Helios just in case. Might take my old Brunswick Igniter just in case they are dry.

Looking at the scores again and just to show how much everyone struggled. Our team average was 925. We had 849, 931 and 893. The other teams average was 1039. They had 902, 981 and 1010. I also saw that I had 2nd highest series of all 10 of us and I bowled bad. The 244 average guy had a 716 and I had a 572. Another guy on my team also had a 572 so yeah scores were down.

Just got back from our county association open tournament. 90% of 230 handicap. Bowled doubles with my son. His recognized average was 165 and mine was 202. We bowled at a place I had never been to. I was told not to go outside the 2nd arrow so I tried targeting 10-11 board. Started with the Altered Reality. Bal looked good. Spare shooting was great all day. 1/2 way through game 1 I started struggling to carry so tried a few adjustments. At one point I tried the Ember a few frames and it wasn't any better. Probably threw it about 4 or 5 frames. Aside from that I used the AR the whole day. I rolled 630 in doubles. My son only rolled about a 480. At some point I decided to move outside so I was targeting the 6-7 board. Straight up, no bellying it out. That was the trick. Had my son do the same thing. He rolled a 580 and I rolled a 705. Had the front 9 in the last game then left a 3 pin the a 7-10 in the fill. Left 5 7-10's today. Spare game fell off slightly in the singles set.
The tournament is the whole month of March and so far I'm about 6th or 7th in handicap singles but I'll continue to drop as more bowlers enter. Only had 2 people there I knew. My 'coach' that bowls league with me and Mr 900 Steve Kosela. My coach struggled. Kosela was about 3 pairs away from me but not sure how he did.

EDIT: I counted 5 7-10's but pinpal only shows 3 so not sure

Wow. Rough night but to be fair I saw alot of guys struggling. We had a bye but we still need to be within 50 pins of our team average to get the wins. Game 1 we won by 10. Game 2 we won by 50 and game 3 we won by 6. Lanes were dry and corner pins were seen everywhere. I left a pocket 7-9 then I saw our leagues 244 average bowler throw the same a few frames later next to us. Him and a guy on their team are our 2 top bowlers at 244 and 228 and I saw both of them struggling. I used the Altered Reality game 1 and 2 then the Ember game 3 but neither looked very good.

    Game 1: 206 (7 strikes, 2 spares, 2 opens-2 splits)

    Game 2: 172 (5 strikes, 3 spares, 3 opens-1 split)

    Game 3: 192 (6 strikes, 3 spares, 2 opens-1 split)

    Series: 570

The scores were a little misleading though. I mean, half your opens were splits...and you still had a decent night.

Well an update on the tournament. After 2 weeks there was 116 entries for singles. I was 10th scratch and 7th in singles handicap. For teams we were pretty far down. 83rd of 92 teams...lol. 1 in 5 get paid so I'd guess there might be 25 more entries as most of the top bowlers have already bowled but some will bowl again and push us down a little more. So if there are 140 entries then top 28 will cash. Stephan Kosela (Mr 900) was 12th in singles so I was 2 spots ahead of him scratch but they posted today he had an 807 so he is now ahead of me and I'm sure others will re-enter and do better than me.
I still think I'll cash but not sure my son will. They still have bowlers tomorrow then they will update again Tuesday or Wednesday then they have next weekend too.
High handicap singles after last weekend was 832 and high scratch was 783 but obviously Kosela passed that today. Not sure if any others did.
My son wants to re-do doubles next weekend. I'm not sure. I seriously doubt I beat my 705 scratch but teams I had 630 (202 book average) and my son had 430 (165 book average). I'm pretty sure we can beat that but it will cost us $35 each so not sure I can justify 'trying' to better our position just to maybe make $10 each. My son might be able to beat his 580 scratch but it's like you would need about a 750 with handicap to cash. He has 753 now but to make up at least $35 more he would likely need to improve about 7 or 8 spots which would put him at about 775 so he would need a 600 scratch.
So we may enter just teams again next weekend but will see
